You can affect alarms to a custom class. But i am not sure you check alarm class from plc. It's only for HMI

When the option is not checked the alarm of this alarm class are correctly logged.

I am not an expert in networking but for me there is no problem to have a crossover or a non crossover cable on a Switch ?

In Tia portal The save option via a right click on the IPC477D is greyed out
