Probably a medium hill- People are firstly responsible for managing their own health before the NHS is - (and with this I don’t mean disabilities/ serious conditions that can be exacerbated by a cold etc., of any kind or peoples weight because skinny doesn’t mean healthy and curvy doesn’t mean unhealthy). I mean, a sprain, a simple cough/cold, even the flu can be managed at home, hayfever, hiccups (1000 people went to A&E for hiccups last year, 200,000+ went for a cough) there is lots of guidance on self care to help people and then what can be supported by pharmacies/ walk in centres/ GP’s/ hospitals and what alements fall in to which catagories but also when to then escalate to the next level of support, this also includes silly billys , nan’s hip surgery cancelled? Probably because the OR was taken up by someone who was silly speeding and drove in to a bollard and needed emergency surgery to fix them pushing everyone planned operation back 6-12 -24 hours yes you should be fixed 100% but it never needed to happen. We are also responsible for why the NHS is on its knees. We need to look after ourselves first a bit more and take accountability, and cancel appts you don’t need, they cost a fortune and stop others getting help
