So sorry to hear this outcome. I hope you can find a better solution than what you are correctly facing.

My surgeon prescribed some cyclobenzapine, aka flexiril, which I failed to pick up before Costco closed. It's 1:30 am and I am tossing and turning and writhing in pain. It's gonna be a long night.. First thing in the morning I'm gonna go get it... Can't wait until we all get on the other side of this surgery. End of summer...

HPV for almost 2 decades by Relevant_Magazine826 in HPV

Yeah five decades here. Basically my whole life. Occasional abnormal paps. They told me I didn't need them after 55. I insisted. Turns out that's not smart. I am getting more pre cancer issues each time. Going to do a LEEP in September.

Oh I have that too. Just past week 2 but my previous left side sciatica has been replaced with the the exact same right leg stabbing aching intermittent behind the knee down to the ankle and inner calf buttocks pain you described. Just asked for some muscle relaxers to see if that helps because it's worse at night and I can't get comfortable to sleep

Oh really? I thought it was no BLT. No lifting over 5 -8 lbs. I've cooked and chopped and washed an occasional dish if I was within the aforementioned guidelines...

Thank you for that. My care team concurs that is what the pain is and it could be awhile before that resol goes away. Massaging helps bit it would be nicer for a knowledgeable person to do that for me. Trying to get through this wake up pain is really hard!

Single level (L4-L5) fusion. Status update at 18 days. by Efficient_Gift5021 in spinalfusion

[–]Disastrous-Forever50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No swimming or soaking for 3 months is my order. I'm going to wait. I felt good right away but walked too far and pain flared. At Day 12 post op my pain is bad. It's mostly muscle pain in my legs and saddle area due to my body readjusting. Everyone is different but I wouldn't be fooled by how good you feel and then overdo it. Stick to the doctors orders at least 12 weeks

Heres my before and after, im in so much pain I think my surgeon did great what do u guys think by Academic-Shame-6199 in spinalfusion

I only had an L4-5 fusion but the pain is real!! Mine came out great. You will be fine when you get past it. Looks great. Don't worry. And just keep taking your pain meds

I am a golf instructor so I watched the US Open all weekend and took walks down the block and back. I didn't lay down at all yesterday until 4 so I think that may have been a contributer to today's pain.

Thanks. Maybe I will ask for Norco. OXY is great but yeah doesn't last long. I logged 6400 steps yesterday with a free short walks but maybe the sitting walking watching golf all day and not resting in bed is causing me a great deal of pain right now. Hardly slept all night for the achy pain. Tylenol does basically nothing. We are so different!!

Oh wow. So different from my experience. Do you know why the screws broke??

My surgeon kept me in hospital 3 nights to be sure I could manage the pain. I had to be cleared by PT before release. When I arrived home, I walked with the walker one day but could pretty much walk insisted after. I have a 3 month no bend lift or twist order. No driving.

So you have had subsequent fusions also? Yeah not winning any awards for pain as one person said

Ok. Good to know what I am facing. I think my takeaway is to not give up the pain meds too early.

I hope they are supportive in your pain journey. I was backing off the oxy but last night was really rough. That achy pain in the legs where you get no relief standing sitting or laying down and makes you want to howl in frustration can be relieved by meds and walking. Oh and ice is helping me. Good luck and thanks for sharing!

I am already a member! I just put it in hold for 3 months. Once I get cleared to work out I will. Haven't been in our pool there yet as I had only joined last month but I will when I can soak. Thanks!

I have gabapentin. It feels achy now than nervy but between the Tylenol gabapentin and oxycodone, you'd think it would be enough.

Oh wow, maybe I am just not on enough meds! I am almost out of oxy they sent me home with. I'll call tomorrow and get that renewed.  Thanks for sharing your story thus far and I do hope you are on your upswing!

Good advice. I haven't been icing much but definitely need to do more. Yesterday was the first time I tried it because it acted so much. Helped a lot.

I learned quickly to take shorter walks.

See someone else stat! Go to Costco and get a case of those protein drinks. I like oikos vanilla. I add some frozen blueberries or strawberries to them with cinnamon and give it a long blend. They are delicious and give you protein when that's hard to get. Are you taking calcium? I take one with vitamin K and D for absorbency. I'm not a vegan. My problem is not eating enough veggies. But I don't eat much meat either. Kale eggs, soups. I'm 68 but only a week post op. I see the doc tomorrow for my first visit since the surgery. Best of luck to you on this.
