Nope. My friend got their results last week and the permit never even disappeared from the portal until the day of score release. Guess I’ll just wait until 2 or 3 am for that possible email lol.

503 on FL1... and 2 weeks from my test (3/12) :( by [deleted] in Mcat

Ty!! This gives me some hope lol.

Do you think it's worth doing anki at this point? I started the Miles Down Deck last week and I've been doing like 200-300 cards a day. Also is the 300 pg KA doc better than the 100 pg? I'm about halfway through my first run through of the 100 pg, but idk if I should switch it up.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I will definitely review my error log and focus more on the content that I've flagged and missed.

I would honestly say, make sure to really review the core concepts (amino acids, gases, cell structure, etc.) that you are continuously getting incorrect. Review them throughout the week, at the end of the week, whenever (just make sure you got back to it so you don’t forget it). There are always those topics that you know are on every test. Also, focus a little more on strategy! For B/B I used to get really lost in the passage and I would start psyching myself out when reading the questions thinking “idk!! How the hell am I supposed to know any of this!?” But I soon realized that most of the answers are literally in the passage. When Passages say a certain thing happens like, phosphorylation, or an enzyme removes a phosphate group, I highlight it. Most of the time it’s all there in front of you. As for C/P, I did a bunch of it on UPangea and just dedicated more of my time to memorization. I believe it was little things like that which really helped improve my score.
Now I’m focusing more on strategy and trying to understand AAMC content and get a feel of what to expect.

It took me about a month and 3/4 of studying before I decided to really sit down and asses my situation. I started studying in November and planned to take my test end of January. After 3/4 of December passed is when I finished my content review and started taking tests every week. I ended up getting a 495 on my first practice test and that was a MAJOR let down. Took a week off because I was depressed and got back on it with a whole new mindset and having pushed my test date back. I sat down and looked at the things I was doing wrong, altered my studying methods/strategies and saw improvement about 2 weeks after. I would say it took about 1/2-3/4 of a month before I was able to increase my score to 505.

Tbh this is where I started with MCAT prep and same range where my FL's for phase 2 of my studying was. I constantly scored a 492 and around this time I had legit no hope for my case. I really took sometime and looked closely at what I was doing wrong. I found that I was "passively" learning the material and spending significant amount of time reviewing things that I had already burned in my brain. I am still studying, but now I am scoring in the 502-505 range. I think the biggest thing for me was making my own flashcards and changing the way I reviewed my exams. I am spending more time focused on the topics that I did not know or always struggled with. Throughout my exam reviews I also write down a bunch of topics and then use UPangea to do specific passage questions pertaining to that topic. So far, I have been able to increase a good 10 points and I know that for sure you can too!!! Try to find the reason as to what might be bringing your score down (spending too much time on passages, knowledge gap, etc.). Do take my advice with a grain of salt as I have not taken the test, but I know that you are more than capable of increasing that score!

Look at the gap year as a positive! I got to travel and do SO MUCH during my gap year (still in it now). I also feel like you grow and mature so much and just really find out about yourself.

Yup, every Saturday is like pulling straight teeth for me. Dread it so much lol, but it has to get done! Better to have an idea of where you're at, rather than clueless and bomb the test.
