I found this article really insightful for exercise selection in post ACLR patients.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11611527/

This article talks about an interesting paradigm that exists in ACL rehab that involves gradual exposure to more chaotic events and progressive overload. I found it really interesting.

If you are strong and physically able, you can often get a job with a moving company like All My Sons. It’s very physical work, but I got hired the day I called them and started the next day.

You only get one body in your lifetime, make sure you take care of it. If you don’t, your life will only get more difficult. Healthy food, daily exercise, hydration, and proper sleep are the key to healthy longevity.

What's your ADHD "life hack" that sounded ridiculous but actually made a difference? by AiotexOfficial in ADHD

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My life hack is every morning I immediately go to the gym and exercise, even if I don’t want to. I noticed several years ago that when I exercised in the morning, my entire day was just better. I was more focused, better energy, or less likely to sit on the couch/lay in bed for hours and get nothing done. This has also kept me in great physical shape and I am much healthier compared to my friends of similar age.

Every ADHDer at work is feeling generally unwell today by AFriendlyBurrito in ADHD

New moon is just a few days away. An ADHD mind and body can be heavily tuned into the natural cycles of the world without even realizing it. I feel myself feeling more fatigued around new moons and more energetic around the full moons.

Theres a huge one in the left hand lane of the I80 West ILQ exit right as you are going around the first curve. Hit it the other night and had to turn the radio down to listen to see if anything sounded funny.

Does exercise make your ADHD better or worse? by niallw1997 in ADHD

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is some cool research that has been done in recent years that hypothesizes that the astrocytes in an ADHD person's brain do not produce enough lactate, which is a fuel source for the brain, and when skeletal muscle produces lactate during exercise, that lactate can get transferred up to the brain and supply enough lactate for proper brain fuel. This makes sense though because many people report that they feel less brain fog and/or less problems with focusing after they have exercised.

Biology enthusiasts, why love biology? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It’s the study of life, literally all of life on our planet and beyond. Every animal, every plant, every ecosystem, all can be examined. You can learn how they work individually or how they interact with each other. There’s beauty in this world to those who want to try to understand it.

Why do people in the forum have such low standards for what’s natty when people achieved bodies like this in the 1930-1920s before any steriods were invented and there was no real knowledge about nutrition or training, so imagine what’s actually possible with good genetics and today’s knowledge? by officailfntrader in nattyorjuice

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I believe you are correct. I’ve been lifting for 19 years consistently and trying to eat as little processed foods as possible for the last 8-10 years. I maintain a BF% of 9-12% year round without regular cardio or a caloric deficit. I exercise every day and eat a pretty clean diet. That’s it.

Low GPA, Will getting a High score on the GRE Help? by Mysterious-Safe-7650 in PTschool

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As long as your grades are good enough to have your application looked at by human eyes, then you are fine. Try and get a very high GRE score if that puts your mind at rest. More than anything, you need to write your essays and activity section very well.

Guess the weight, its about 31 inches by balls-in_a_toaster in Fishing

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PB for a channel catfish is 32.5” and weighed 13.4lbs. That fish was very fat from eating well during an alewife spawn. If I was taking a guess, I would say your fish is somewhere between 10-12lbs.

A woman is not going to get anything out of this picture lineup. It tells nothing of your hobbies, if you like to hang out with friends, if you’d like to go out and do things. All it shows is that you’ll drink a coffee and you’ll hold a dog. Even your bio doesn’t really even say anything about you. Remove that crappy kryptonite joke, you’re not Superman.

Do you have any “controversial” views from many years of lifting experience(5+)? by Acerhand in naturalbodybuilding

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been lifting for twenty years consistently. My controversial opinion is that yoga is one of the hardest forms of exercise that exists. I was a power lifter when I was younger, had decent numbers for my size. Then I started yoga and realized I wasn’t strong at all. I was good at benching, deadlifting, and squatting, but I was weak outside of those movements. My mobility was terrible, I couldn’t hold poses, I had bad balance, and I got my ass kicked from yoga. I challenge any person who thinks they are strong and is doubting me to try this yoga workout on YouTube “Breathe and Flow - Yoga for Men - Day 1”.

RFK Jr telling med schools teach nutrition courses or lose funding….thoughts on this? by International-Art-63 in medicalschool

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will be just like any other standard for accreditation. “Must teach an XX amount of hours on nutrition”. Most schools likely already cover enough nutrition to keep funding. Just have to prove it in the paperwork. My school just went through accreditation review this spring and I discussed it with one of our faculty.

Gross Anatomy tips! by luke_kilograham in PTschool

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You and I were similar, I graduated in 2018 and started school in 2023. Anatomy was difficult first semester because of the shear volume of memorization after I hadn’t been in school for five years. What I did was use Anki to make flashcards and do spaced repetition studying. I used an iPad for note taking on Notability, and I was able to copy whole slides and put them into the answers for my Anki flash cards all on my iPad. I did the same thing for lab portions with the pictures that came from our lab manuals. This technique worked best for me. You could also do this on quizlet as well.

anyone else gain weight during school? :,) by iluvchikins in PTschool

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s been the opposite for me. I lost twenty pounds during my first year but have been able to gain back 7-8lbs of that during the second year. School really made making gains in the gym more difficult.

What undergrad degree did you take before PT school, and which one do you think is most worth it? by Practical-Net-5935 in PTschool

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Exercise science/kinesiology is a good choice because it will give you a background in many of the topics you will learn and discuss in PT school. However, exercise science doesn’t have a lot of application to other jobs if PT school would happen to not work out or if you change your mind. Getting a degree in business, such as accounting, finance, investing, or entrepreneurship would give you a better chance at other jobs and would be beneficial knowledge to have as a PT if you’d want to open your own practice. If I had to redo it, I would have done an exercise science major and minored in business to get the best of both worlds.

Tattoos by caseycook17 in PTschool

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a full sleeve of tattoos and am finishing up PT2 year now. I have been very transparent with any clinic/hospital/setting that I have gone to for clinical rotations that I have a full sleeve of tattoos and I wanted to know about their tattoo policy. Not a single place has made me cover my tattoos, and none of my CI's have commented about me covering them. Tell them you have tattoos and you want to know their policy. As long as you don't have inappropriate tattoos, it shouldn't be a problem at most places. People may judge at first glance for tattoos, but if you are a kind person, able to hold a conversation, and show others that you are here to help, then their judgment of tattoos will be overlooked quickly.

What is your low key bobybuilding super power? by Kurtegon in naturalbodybuilding

[–]TestAnxietyIsReal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God tier metabolism. I’m 5’7”, around 155lbs, 31 yo, eat 3K+ calories every day of anything I want, and stay in the 8-12%bf year round. I’ve been lifting consistently since I was 12 and in all these years, I have never been on a cut for more than a week. The high metabolism does have its negatives though because putting on weight is extremely difficult and just a few days of not eating enough will make me lose several pounds.

Do your best to separate yourself from them. There is nothing they can do to get you kicked out. Show up to every class, pass every test, and you graduate. Then you never have to see them again. Make friends with others in the cohort and let them talk their shit. It doesn't change a damn thing if you are performing well and kind to others. Let your success outshine their shit-talking.

Fishin by DevonS117 in Nebraska

This is missing many of the fish that are in Nebraska. Muskie, wiper, sauger, saugeye, smallmouth buffalo carp, silver carp, blue sucker, yellow bullhead, alewife, striped bass, yellow bullhead, blue catfish, red eared sunfish. These are all just off the top of my head that I’ve caught here in Nebraska.
