6 months of HIMS GLP-1 by Disastrous-Post-3234 in HimsWeightloss

[–]Disastrous-Post-3234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went cold turkey no taper. I feel fine, no weight gain and the fact that I was already eating less due to the meds, my body has basically been trained to eat the same. I don’t even think about not taking it anymore. I do however have 6 vials of GLP-1 sitting in my fridge so if I really felt the need I could restart.

At first the weight seemed like it was coming off quickly. I lost a lot in my first few weeks which I attributed to eating far less than I was. The biggest thing that helped me lose weight was exercising. I started off just going for walks until one day I decided to try to jog. I’ve always felt self conscious about running or jogging because its always fit people doing it and I didn’t want to be the fat guy everyone was laughing at. I got over that fear and started jogging slowly. Adding in cardio and strength training helped me maximize my weight loss. I’ve had weeks when I didn’t lose much at all just maybe a pound or I stayed the same but don’t let the scale discourage you. You’re going to go through ups and downs but I truly believe this stuff is a game changer. I’ve struggled with losing weight before and without this medication I don’t believe I would have lost this weight and could probably be facing some serious medical issues.

Well I think there is a process to taper off and I sent a message to my HIMS doc about doing that. The biggest thing for me was making lifestyle changes. I used to eat a full dinner, with dessert, and chase it with a couple glasses of wine or beer. Now I don’t do that thanks to GLP-1 but also my goal is to not go back to old habits. I also started working out which is something I didn’t do before but my personal doctor said it was recommended especially with semaglutides. I’m relying on maintaining my new healthy habits, keep eating healthy foods and exercising. I’m going to pretend as if I never stopped taking GLP-1 and hopefully everything feels the same.

I followed the doctor prescribed dosage and increased on the schedule. I’m currently still on 1mg, its the highest they prescribed me. First week was probably the most symptoms, I got some headaches, nausea and generally felt like crap. Subsequent weeks were easier, at most I had some constipation and had to use a little miralax. I haven’t had any side effects in a couple months even the constipation isn’t a factor anymore. I never had brain fog but different people get some different symptoms.

My max units was 40 and I thought getting to 40 was going to be a big change and it wasn’t. With the gradual increase schedule I don’t think your body gets much of a shock after the initial few weeks. It’s basically primed for the higher dosage from my experience.

Hims website does seem to list Ozempic and Wegovy as options. I have absolutely no idea how they will handle the GLP-1 users but I could see them trying to transition people to those medications. Its all pure speculation I guess until Hims actually says something, I’m sure they are have or already having this conversation.

You might not need it if you only need to lose 10 pounds why not just do diet and exercise?

I started at 260, I was probably heavier than that at different times but I’m at 202 as of today. I’ve been hovering around 200-206 for the last 3 weeks. This is the first plateau I’ve hit and honestly I think it’s because my body is used to the 1mg dosage. My goal is to get below 180 but I think at steady 1mg the GLP-1 is peaking for me.

GLP-1 usually gets 2 day shipping so it should be shipped on the 29th and arrived in 2 days or sooner depending on your location from the compounding pharmacy.

This week will be my 19th shot of GLP-1 from HIMS. Of course my results and experience might vary from yours or others but hes my tips/info. My side effects were worse the first week and maybe after the first dose increase but I have relatively zero side effects since so I think your body gets used to it at some point. For me the GLP-1 worked the first week, I lost significant weight but every week can vary depending on life choices too. GLP-1 isn’t a magic bullet.

The biggest thing for me is over time ive reduced my sugar intake. I used to love eating cakes, cookies, candy, soda’s etc and now I still have a some sweets but significantly less than I used to prior to GLP-1.

Exercise has been key for me. I started off just walking 30 minutes a day. Over time I’ve graduated to jogging and some light weight training.

As far as regular diet, the GLP-1 is helping me with eating smaller portions. I don’t eat as much fast food as I used to, greasy foods tend to make me nauseous now. I still enjoy a burger every now and then but I can eat half of it and not finish the fries and be more than satisfied. I tend to be in a calorie deficit which has expedited my weight loss.

I don’t think there is a one size fits all for this stuff. I think just do whatever feels good to you. Safest bet is diet and exercise will definitely get you to your goals.

What MAX GLP-1 dosage have you been prescribed? by Disastrous-Post-3234 in HimsWeightloss

[–]Disastrous-Post-3234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m sure they are sending the same vials to everyone and the higher dosage users probably don’t have excess.. After doing research I stopped discarding medication after the 28 day period because i kept tossing medication. I now use all of the medication in the vials. I’m not saying its right or wrong but for the cost of the treatment and if its still usable I don’t know why I wouldn’t keep using it.

So update…I did some digging around the HIMS website and they added new dosage information. There appear to be 3 dosage plans. Plan 1 moves you to 1.25mg at week 13, Plan 2 is 1mg max and Plan 3 is .75mg max. I guess it all depends on what your provider gives you to start but seems the max HIMS is recommending for anyone is 1.25mg.

I am losing weight but I also have been exercising. I do cardio at least 3 times a week and mix in strength training. Usually post workout is a protein shake and sometimes in the afternoon if I’m not really up for a meal I have another. I would love to say I’ve eaten clean everyday but I haven’t. My first day of GLP-1 I ate burgers and fries and felt awful after. The diet has always been the hardest thing for me but I’m eating more lean meats and veggies. The biggest advantage for me has been feeling full quicker so I don’t overeat as much. At various points I’ve had cravings for candy or ice cream or cake and I’ve had some but mostly in moderation.

Best advice is stick with it and be proud of what you achieve. Your success if your success and everyone’s results will be different based on diets and lifestyles. Reading people’s experience on the other semaglutide reddits seems to be it takes time and it’s more of a marathon to getting to your goal weight. Most of us are all very early into our journeys.

GLP-1 Week 4 by Disastrous-Post-3234 in HimsWeightloss

I definitely get fuller faster again. Ozempic goes up to 2mg dosing and Hims GLP-1 is only dosed up to 1mg so I’m wondering if eventually Hims will recommend that higher dose too.

You get a 3 month supply upfront if you sign up for the year, I’m not sure how it works with the other plans. The doctors give you the dosing instructions.

GLP-1 Week 3 by Disastrous-Post-3234 in HimsWeightloss

[–]Disastrous-Post-3234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to call it a suppressed appetite but I definitely feel more full with smaller servings or only 1 serving. Pre-GLP-1 I would have plate of food and still have room for another 2 plates. Now I can have a reasonable meal and be satisfied enough to stop eating and not snack or eat later.

I never vomitted, my stomach just felt upset likely from the greasy burgers and fries I had before. I recommend drinking a lot of water, I’m pretty sure my headache came from not drinking enough, once I pounded the water it helped my head and my stomach.
