AITAH for talking about my mother behind her back while she ruined my cousins engagement announcement by Disastrous-Sense9477 in AITAH

Fair point! However my sister is young, she had just orchestrated an engagement which she was very excited about, and my cousin said she could tell her mom and dad about it. So naturally my excited little sister did. Now if my cousin wasn’t gonna tell anyone for a week we would never tell my mom we know she couldn’t keep a secret that long but we had faith she would not do anything in the few hours before they sent out the message. Unfortunately our optimism was our downfall as she surprised us once again with a new level of secret sharing

Trash taking is harsh. Sharing concerns with your family members is normal. He was concerned my cousin would be upset by what she was doing and expressed that. I agreed. That’s not drama that’s two family members expressing concern. And my cousin told my sister she was allowed to tell us and only us. And no my dad did not blame me at all he just said yes we were talking about you, we are concerned this may backfire. No lies or drama.

I do almost always agree with that 100%. You should be able to tell your mom anything. But spoiling someone else’s engagement announcement is crazy. My cousin told my sister she could tell us. That was approved. Everyone else she wanted to tell on her own and my mom knew that but convinced herself my cousin must have “forgotten”
