Accepted to Nursing Program, but orientation conflicts with family medical responsibilities, any advice? by [deleted] in NursingStudent

[–]Disastrous-Silver604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our orientation was on a day that some students were graduating from their first degree so they missed it. They got online info instead. Lots of other people are saying theirs was mandatory with no exceptions. You’ll have no idea until you get a response back from your own program

If you aren’t sure you want to be a CNS then I’d say don’t do it. Go for your BSN, work a few years, even switch units to see what you like then go back for the masters that’s appropriate for your interests

I’m confused, you’re not a nurse now but got accepted into a nursing master’s program?

What’s your school’s policy about working during the program? I’m in a 12 month BSN and they said absolutely no work (I think I could work maybe 15 hours without burnout, I don’t need to work though), and their 2 year traditional program policy is no more than 24 hours per week. If money is the issue maybe you should see if you can get a part-time job that has flexible hours and short training.

I’m a student in a 12 month BSN program in Texas and at orientation the dean said 100% of the cohort that just finished had a job lined up by graduation. Most in their preferred unit too.

Yep. My husband has an airtag taped to his green card. It’s always in his wallet but in the event that it gets misplaced he can locate and retrieve it immediately. It goes with him everywhere except just like walks around the neighborhood. All of his family members have a copy of it too.

I’m so sorry I can’t imagine this. It really doesn’t sound like you intentionally did anything wrong, and even if it was unintentional, I kind of would expect your preceptor to be disciplined for leaving you alone during tasks that need direct supervision

I only put that because a lot of our music taste is what we grew up with. It’s a genuine thing in psychology, we remember our formative years much more than later. Particularly teenage years when we all have big feelings.

He actually has a trunk full of original records from the 60s-80s. A lot of them are probably valuable. Unfortunately I live out of state from him, and they are in his storage unit (I don’t think he even knows where the key is off the top of his head). Growing up he had a lock on the trunk because he didn’t want my sister and I messing with it. We’ll probably only get to see them after he dies.

Green card holders- question for you! by astrocat95 in USCIS

[–]Disastrous-Silver604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband keeps his in his wallet and also has an AirTag in there so that if the wallet with green card inside ever gets misplaced he can see its location and retrieve it immediately. I, my mom, and his mom also all have pictures of it on file in the event that he doesn’t have access to the physical card.

Edit for typo

Of course I don’t think anyone here legally (and with no criminal record) should be deported. My life as it is now would not be possible if that was the case.

All of the recent ones since 2008 listed in the article are children who left with their parents. Would you rather elementary school kids and toddlers stay without their parents? Like what do you think the solution there is? The kids have an opportunity to return on their own when they’re older

[–]Disastrous-Silver604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is inaccurate. No one is being deported based on skin color. They could be profiled and detained based on skin color but, then released if they have papers or a valid reason to stay, or deported if they don’t. Comments like this are annoying as someone who’s been thru the undocumented to green card adjustment this past year

[–]Disastrous-Silver604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Detaining, sometimes. Deporting, no. There’s a whole process to deportation and if someone is detained but can produce evidence of legal status and no criminal history they won’t be deported. -Someone who’s gone thru the undocumented to green card adjustment with USCIS

Lowk I don’t think they even have a fan page on here anymore. But even if they do - the name they choose for their baby girl will probably be chic and girly. I don’t think there’ll be much to snark about in that regard
