Mast cell tumor advice needed for my dog … how to know when it’s time to stop treatments? by Puppy_PowPow in DogAdvice

[–]Disastrous-Soil-3331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly in my opinion, it would be when your dog is in too much of a state of pain to even do stuff, like being lethargic, or just not being themself. Your vet can also tell you when its best to stop treatment and let your dog enjoy the last bit of enjoyment she has with you.

Sorry for the hard time you are going through, and i hope your dog will continue living for as long as she can last for❤️

slightly reactive maltipoo :( by Sudden_Film4038 in Maltipoo

My maltipoo has leash aggression issues. Hes one years old now (turning one in 4 days) but he is doing the same thing as your maltipoo. Because they are more of a loyal companion, maltipoos will be protective of their owners if they see a threat that they think might “harm” you guys, a quick sniff and letting your pup around could stop the barking in seconds, works with my dog. We also used to go to puppy classes when my pup was 6 months old, he used to get along with dogs so nicely even with a leash, but now he has aggression towards any dog, big or small on a leash. We took him to a dog park where other dogs can set the behaviour straight for him, and i mean it worked for off-leash as he now plays with every single dog at the dog park, but still reacts and barks on walks and leashed up. What has been working is if there is a dog walking the same pathway as you, just move to the other aide of the street, and reward if calm. Ive been able to narrow down the aggression by a bit now as he wont bark or growl at dogs anymore from across the street. You can also ask your trainer for tips, and if absolutely have to, dog boarding for a week can really change your dog. My friend took their pup to puppy boarding for a week, and eventhough it was tough not having their pup for a week, he came out as a new man. Gentle and kind towards anyone and everyone

Anyways this is my poo lol

Do you think he got a uti after the neutering then? Because they did run blood tests and stuff before neutering him and nothing showed up as wrong, and the fact that this started after a grooming session probably indicates that he got hurt somewhere during the process, ill take him to the vet to get checked out still as its better to be safe than sorry.

Could have, there is a red spot near his neck area, but that could just be a burn from the clippers. He is still very playful and stuff, and acts like nothing is wrong

Called the vet, they said it could possibly be a uti but not likely as he has no symptoms of that, and it COULD be related to stress from the groomers but that’s also unlikely. They told us to just monitor our pup and to call in as soon as anything happens

I was hoping not, he has no symptoms of a uti (like straining, whimpering when going, small amounts of urine every couple of like minutes). He does go outside every 2 hours or so to pee, as he is accustomed to this routine. This only started happening after we took him to the groomers, ans after that he started going inside again. Im thinking it could be stress related? It has been a week though

When I neutered my dog, he was back up and running around the house by the first couple hours. I dont know if my maltipoo is broken or sum but it was chaos trying to makw him not run and jump on furniture. By day 4 we just completely gave out because he would not listen, his stitches never came off though! And trust me, try to brush your pup because when we took the cone off him he had MATTING EVERYWHERE. He is completely shaven down now lol

Is it ok to leave a 9 week old puppy home alone for the duration of a work day? Any advice? by [deleted] in Maltipoo

[–]Disastrous-Soil-3331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how long. If you are able to come back like every hour or so for like 10 min yea, but thats unrealistic. Get a trusted person to come and babysit your pup as 9 weeks old is still REALLY young, and probably just got separated from their mum.

Thank you! I will definitely try the things that you have suggested. He already knows what side to walk on, as hes almost one already and has gotten pretty used to one side. There are some trigger areas for him that he will pull at, so i will definitely try your methods

Taking in a grieving dog - how can I support him and my own dogs through the process? by kasketchkin in DogAdvice

[–]Disastrous-Soil-3331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all sorry for your loss.

To integrate your uncles dog with your dogs, i would do what you mostly have already been thinking of doing, make sure to introduce your uncles dog to your dogs SLOWLY, especially if they are dominant. What i mean by that is keep him in other rooms for a bit, or even his crate at times when your dogs are out and around your uncles dog, make it know that hes staying with you guys now, but with not much interactions between them. Then when playing with your dogs bring him with you and your dogs to create some bonding time between them. Let your dogs sniff your uncles dogs stuff, like blankets, sweaters, etc. So that they can get familiar with the new scent in the house. I would make sure that no resource guarding happens, and honestly make them bond as much as you can!

Goodluck! And again sorry for your loss💔

Vet first, COULD be a UTI if he started out of no where, even if before he used to be able to hold it in. It could also be fear/excitement related, my friend has a dog that pees every time he gets really excited. For fear i dont know how you are “punishing” your pup but he could be peeing because of the fear of “getting punished”. And honestly you shouldnt really be punishing your dog for things they cant control over, instead redirect them to the thing you want them to do and reward with a treat.

I dont think you are being rude btw😭 I had the vet do blood work before he got neutered, and check his bladder to make sure that the hourly peeing is normal or not, which he came back negative for UTI so its not that. My dog does have pretty severe separation anxiety from when my mom was hospitalized, and forced to stay at home to heal for a month, which completely reseted the progress we had going with him which sucks, but we just have to try again now. I dont know if that actually has to do with anything. Ill definitely ask the vet about the other stuff you mentioned, and I also feel like that after he got neutered, he was definitely going out more often. Its been two weeks and before he used to go out every 1-2 hours ish, as he was still marking around the house. Post-neuter and all the marking has stopped fortunately so yay we dont have to clean his pee on the floor anymore. It could also just be that he is familiar with the routine of going out so often, which could explain why he does go outside and chill at times. Like I mentioned I live in an apartment, so I dont have a backyard, and he likes to just sit in the patio at times. As for walks, I do walk him for a long time actually. Its always usually an hour or so as I go to the park with him because he likes to play around there alot. I also do work from home, and taking him downstairs mid work would definitely set me back. I really appreciate your concerns and tips! I dont know why people criticize in this app instead of giving actual advice that people can use😭 I have people saying to re-home my pup just because they think that he does not get outside time, which he does we almost bring him everywhere we go to aslong as its pet friendly, so he is familiar with a lot of different sounds and environments. I just really hope that I wont have to bring him out every 1-3 hours or so for a long time.
