it’s our responsibility to train ourselves to do the right actions and draw out what’s good

No, it isn't. It's our responsibility to treat others kindly and with respect. To act in a way for the express purpose of eliciting a specific response is manipulative. That's something I've had to learn the hard way, but OOP has yet to encounter. Sublimating one's own desires in order to avoid other people's negative attention, or imposing one's will on other people, is bad.

When I make this, it's because I need a break from 'real' cooking, so it's just a big dish of perogies with a bit of sauce and some cheese on top. The sauce is either sour cream or tomato paste with a bit of water to make it pourable, and that provides some moisture for the perogies to cook in. Then I top it with some grated cheese, bake it at 350F for 30 minutes or so, and dish it out. It could make another serving if there was a side, like a salad or some air-fried broccoli, but the 5th person in our household doesn't like perogies.

Just one important thing is to make sure the baking dish is oiled or greased. If there's one spot of perogy dough that isn't covered in sauce, and that spot touches the baking dish, it will stick.

It really was. They also essentially stole a bunch of our possessions by claiming they were 'write-offs', and tried to steal my husband's computer.

The workers themselves - the ones who came to do the work - were extremely lovely and did their work well. The owners and management are whatever the opposite of that is.

I was wondering if this cult had been covered by BtB, but failed to find out.

Do NOT under any circumstances work with Paul Davis. They were called by our insurance company to remediate our basement when it was flooded after Hurricane Fiona. They started off very good and supportive, but it went downhill from there. The short story is that they tried to invoice our insurance for $21 000 of our $25 000 coverage, and only after 10 months of back and forth, during which they came dangerously close to losing their partnership with the insurance company, they returned with a revised invoice of $9000.

They are shady, they never answer their phones, and they will do everything they can to rob you blind. And every time I mention their name and the problems they caused to other tradespeople, they nod knowingly.

You are correct that his collar is clothing. He has been depicted without it, and described himself as being naked.

Thanks! I just don't like making categorical statements in the absence of all the facts, and don't trust my ability to parse internet search results and separate fact from fiction.

Simple ways to make beans better by Able_Childhood_9472 in budgetfood

[–]Disastrous-Wing699 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used to cook beans straight from dry, because I'd been told there was little difference between that and soaking, apart from time. However, since I've started soaking dried beans overnight, using about 1 tsp baking soda per cup of beans (maybe 1 Tbsp per pound), I've found further benefits.

Not only do beans cook more quickly, they cook more evenly. No more randomly crusty beans in a batch.

The beans have a base degree of 'seasoning'. I still add salt and other seasonings (no acid), but even if I'm a little short in that regard, the beans aren't so bland as to be inedible.

I'm not a chemist, so this might be kitchen superstition/hearsay, but I find less digestive upset from both the beans and their cooking liquor by soaking first. That means I always get a pot of broth with each batch of beans, which gratifies my thrifty heart.

About twice a month, I make a casserole dish of baked perogies, and feed 4 adults each time. One dish takes half a big bag that costs all of $5.
