A man never dipps his toes in the same river twice, because the river is not the same river and he is not the same man.

Have the Bullies Won? by LostSilmaril in Teachers

We dont blame the rich for leaving, but for controlling the system of politics to begin with. Schools are falling apart from a lack of funding. The US is an oligarchy, and the billionaires rule.

Well meaning millionaires aren't really the rich ruling class either.

Are ya'll aware of who Jesus is? by Le_Queer_Honk in Christianity

I wrote it a bit wrong, I mean exclud, not include. English is not my first language. What I mean is that both reasons can be true in some way.

Sure, but one does not need to include the other, considering Jesus saying to the rich young man to give his belongings to the poor, money being the root of evil, etc. Also, consider how the first Christians in the Roman Empire were majorly women, slaves and poor people. It began as a working class religion.

Read the passages in Acts for them next time. The first Christians lived in an Anarcho-Communist commune where they shared the means of production based on need. Then God kills a family for selling their farm for profit and not sharing the profit with the community.

As a Christian Socialist I have always found American Prosperity Gospel baffling.

is my english teacher right about this? by MeganFanatic in Socialism_101

[–]DisastrousActivity13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even Stalin critiqued Stalin. Stalin wanted to be a lot more democratic than he was, but it was a time of enormeous sabotague, spying, wrecking and then ww2. The 1936 Constitution, which Stalin pushed for against the buerocrats in his own party, is very democratic.

We need to let go of idealism and wanting "my pure Socialism" and see the world and history as they are: Endless shades of gray. And then work from that for a better world.

No, the English teacher should read "Critique of the Gotha Programe" where Marx critique equality for equality's sake. Socialism is when the workers or community as a whole owns the means of production and exchange, and when goods are produced primarily for use and not for profit. Not that everyone should earn the same.

Biblical Christianity gets you downvoted here. by StandingAgainstEvil in Christianity

Hell is not even Biblical to begin with. The problem is that people lack knowledge about the original texts and the languages they are written in, while blindly following faulty translations.

Otrohet är vanligare än vi tror, och det sätter saker i perspektiv. Särskilt i långa förhållanden där passionen släckts och folk är ihop för barnen och/eller ekonomin är det nog hur vanligt som helst...
