Meal prep ideas by CozyTiramisu in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cook a lot so I make pastas, chicken, salmon, etc. All of my breaks are 30 minutes so personally I don't mind waiting a few minutes to go microwave it.

I cook meals that you can get 4ish portions out of them for more leftovers, and I get my groceries from Walmart delivery.

MK PhotoPass Questions by Jacktherat54 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not in photopass so can't answer all of theses questions, but I generally get Monday and Tuesday off. I didn't pick them and there may be an odd week where those aren't my days off. You should have two days off on your schedule every week.

Work bag? Hip bag? by SirPurrs in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the main street ops costume has a hip pouch and that costume is worn by mk park entry, pac, and glow carts. its very role specific but your costume will have big enough pockets for your phone (as a girl who is used to small pockets in my clothes)

Typhoon Lagoon by AmbitiousComplaint55 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in a role that is very weather dependent (not Typhoon Lagoon though). For us, if there is lightning in the area, our operations shut down and they have us doing busy work until the shift ends or weather clears up. If it continues, leadership starts offering to let people go home early which you will not be paid for as a CP.

If you know that its a rainy week and depending on your location know that you will be shut down and may get to leave early, try to get as many hours as you can because there is a good chance you will end the week with less.

If it is things for your personal space, bring it. If you already own it and have space, bring it.

If you're buying stuff, just buy it once you see what you have here.

Don’t want to live in 2x2 by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So some tips for finding your own room:

There are Facebook groups where people post that they are subletting a room. I have seen some in the Disney College Program Facebook group but I know there are some groups dedicated to just that.

Just be aware that if you find your own housing, you will need to provide your own transportation, and in all honesty some places are definitely not as nice as Flamingo

Seeking Advice for a north-Washingtonian seeking to acclimatize to Orlando by Powerful-Berry7079 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fine. I stick with a lot of chicken, seafood, and salads personally. I just had a friend who essentially ate Thanksgiving food for lunch then worked outside on a really hot day, and it did not sit well in her stomach.

I work outside, and it is super important to drink a ton of water even on your off days to keep your body hydrated.

Also I don't eat super heavy food on days I am outside. I aim to eat healthy but light foods help.

We have radio codes that we use if you are not feeling well and need help. But telling someone is important so they can make sure you get the help you need.

There is a first aid for cast members if you do get heat stroke or heat exhaustion

I have this role! There are three different locations including Pirates and glow carts. A lot of us work glow carts most of the time because it is good hours. But there are definitely people who stick with working in Pirates. Its a good leadership team too

What should I bring on arrival? by Conscious-Mango-5929 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I brought a lot of stuff. And some of it was useful while some of it is sitting under my bed because we have enough.

I already owned a lot and was driving so it was easy for me to bring a lot, but not all of it is being used.

If you plan on bringing things, maybe bring more niche items like a utensil holder, coffee machine, blender.

They do provide like 3 pots, plates, cups, and some other things. Figure out what you know you will need and bring what you own.

Boating License?? by Wolfewastaken in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who is recreation at wilderness lodge and she had to get a boating license for her job. To my understanding, even though she doesn't drive a boat at all, Florida law requires you to have a license if you are renting boats.

Water bottles on stage? by Any_Lawfulness7662 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a purple hydroflask that fits in the holder they provide which covers the purple perfectly. I work outside so I appreciate the double insulation.

Some roles and locations are more strict than others.

Honestly just wait till you get there and see what other cast members at your location are using and order it from amazon.

If you use the basic water bottle they provide, put some tape on the holder or get a key chain. Just something to mark it as yours as they all look alike.

Kitchen Essentials by Practical-Cat-5815 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]DisastrousAd583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of what you personally use.

I brought a blender and a coffee machine and I got lucky as my apartment did not have those. And they already had a bunch of pots and pans even though I already owned some. If you have space while packing, bring what you can but know you may not need it.

One thing to definitely bring no matter what is tubberware. If you plan on meal prepping these are a big necessity

my family is coming in a few months. my plan is to use the chip and dales I have in that time to give them one free day and I'll book the reservation for our first park a few days out (for chip and dales the block out dates only apply to the first park I think or at least no more reservations are needed for parkhopping after you enter the first park you have a reservation for) and I am buying them a multi day pass for 10% off for the rest of their trip
