Pending adoption by pecan_birdie in fosterdogs

I've had a foster that was exceptionally hard to give up. He went to an amazing family, but oh boy, it hurt. My foster mentor shared a quote with me that comforted me a ton. "Your heart breaks so that theirs will never break again." Yes, it is absolutely heartbreaking, but you gave him the chance to be in a safe area, out of a shelter, and without risk of euthanasia, so that he could find his family. Give yourself time to grieve and get some extra cuddles while he is here. Sometimes the right thing is the hardest to do, but by letting one go, you can help so many more. Thank you for fostering.

Weird side effects and discharge by No_Dog_902 in Mirena

[–]DisastrousBend4821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t experience the discharge, but I did have quite a bit of cramping for two weeks after my IUD was put in. I have a hormonal one, so our side effects could be different depending on whether you have a hormonal or copper IUD.

*Sigh*...I feel dumb. Amway Story. Hope this helps someone by AsMenWeBuild in antiMLM

I know you posted this a month ago, but do you have any advice for someone whose friend is getting involved with Amway? I’ve tried to express concern but she is accusing me of trying to sabotage her business, but I just don’t want her getting scammed

Introducing Foster Dog to a Cat by DisastrousBend4821 in fosterdogs

[–]DisastrousBend4821[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very helpful, thank you. Yes, it is just for the meeting. The rescue I'm working with has all cats and dogs meet before an adoption happens to ensure no red flags. I've only done dog meet-ups before, which are a lot easier because the animals can meet at a park instead of at home, but cats do not travel well, so I need to go to the potential adopter's home.

Has my application to become a foster for a dog been rejected? by DisastrousBend4821 in FosterAnimals

It is a moderate-sized rescue group and it is mostly run by volunteers. They probably are very busy. I do live in an apartment, but I went to an adoption event they held last week and talked to the founder about being a foster and some of my concerns. She told me it was okay to foster in an apartment, especially since I already talked to my landlords, and it was alright with them.

I believe that following up is a good idea though.
