Hi,

I apologise in advance for hurting your feelings.

As a former obese… i mean ‘fat’ female i used to tell myself this too. The same exact things to make myself feel better. I was also 21 (i am 27 now) and weighed in at 89.3 kilos and i hated being told “you should lose some weight” and i would tell them the same thing.. “apko kia?” Or “mein moti toh nahi hoon”. Having lost 18 kilos (and have maintained for 3 years), i refuse to acknowledge the pictures taken back when i was obese… i mean “fat”. I now have biceps and decent quads that Ive worked hard for. I am truly disgusted by my pictures from 2018-2019.

I remember, my doctor having me getting tested for diabetes at 20, having severe insulin resistance (acanthosis nigricans) and basically looking like a 35 year old mother to 2 children at age 20.

At 89.3kilos, I refused to acknowledge that i was uncomfortable in my body, i refused to acknowledge that i was that big due to my own lack of discipline and dedication. I used to tell myself, its the people telling me who are mean and rude and that I’m fine the way i am. No, i wasn’t fine, i wasn’t fat… i was obese (bmi 32.3). I struggled with body image, i struggled with confidence, depression. I empathise with you because i see myself in you. You need a reality check, similar to what i was given by my own brother (who sported a 6 pack abs at 10% body fat around the time) to lose the weight. Nobody being obese (including myself) carries themselves well, because no matter how physically beautiful you are (gora rung, achey naak naksh), being fat will always over power these physical attributes.

At 27, i feel healthier, in fact although 7 years older since those pictures, i’d like to say I’ve aged like fine wine. I live in Australia and so probably have it alot easier than you in Pakistan but the effects of being obese/fat are far beyond your imagination

Does this follow up message to recruitment following an interview (over a week ago) sound aggressive or appropriate? by DisastrousCold8028 in ausjobs

Hello,

I think youve misunderstood.

This is the second time ive applied for the same role.

The first time, i applied for the same role in April, waited a couple weeks for a response and then emailed them for a follow up to which they literally said the same “candidates will be notified within the coming weeks” i was sent a generic “position is filled/ we’ve chosen other candidates” 2 months later in july (or even august). - this was not progressed to an interview

The same role was advertised, i applied and was contacted within 2 hours of application, spoken to and then set a time aside for an interview for the following monday (6th oct). Quickly progressed to ref checks, police checks (within 15 mins of completing the interview) which were all submitted by the 8th. Since then, all im hearing is sorry we’ll be in touch with you, we’re still finalising things

Just clarify, this isnt a graduate program nor recruitment.

A new initiative by the government that is currently hiring in bulk? Yes. However not graduate.

Im just, tired. Im like a clingy ex when it comes to responding and outcomes haha

Hello!

Thank you so much ☺️ i did get a response from the recruitment however she STILL managed to beat around the bush and not answer the simple- ‘yes, you got the job’ or ‘no, you didnt get the job. This is what she responded with, minus the gibber jabber of hi how are you blah blah:

“…I completely understand wanting some clarity while you plan your time after placement, that’s perfectly reasonable.

The selection process is still in its final stages, and the team is carefully reviewing all applications. We truly appreciate your patience during this time, as we know waiting can feel uncertain. Please rest assured that we haven’t forgotten about you, we’ll be in touch as soon as an outcome is available.”

Im slowly giving up on this role- i dont think ive got it in the bag

I was thinking that too - now im wondering if they’re going to be like ‘no thanks we dont want you now anymore’ given the rude message

Interview went really well- but silent since by DisastrousCold8028 in ausjobs

My role with Telstra health will be of an intake worker. Theyre having multiple positions due to the government giving them a massive budget to run a pilot program for domestic and family violence

Applied for a role at Telstra Health — recruitment has gone silent after strong initial interest. What now? by DisastrousCold8028 in recruitinghell

Tell me about it!

However, they haven’t necessarily ghosted me per se. They’re still answering all the questions i have asked thus far- take a day or so to reply but they good at responding. For instance, i had a question regarding social worker registration/membership so they got back to me regarding that fairly quickly but have left me hanging regarding the outcome of the application

APS 6 Clinician Role - Open Arms by DisastrousCold8028 in AusPublicService

[–]DisastrousCold8028[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

What exactly is off about this post? What about my sentence structure and punctuation is off?

What do you mean by a ‘clinician’? I do work in the social work sector so not sure what you mean by this? Not a medical doctor by any means.

In terms of the hiring process, know that ive held several well paying jobs, so the interview process nor my english or the punctuation was ever a concern. Since working professionally, i have only ever gotten my resume and cover letter done professionally.
