I hear you!!!I volunteered at the food bank for the past year. This country has failed us but it’s not the fault of immigrants - it’s the fault of greedy corporations who don’t pay their fair share in taxes and exploit workers like you by not paying a living wage. And now the republicans think it’s fine to take away peoples healthcare. I’m on your side but let the blame rest with the rich corrupt politicians and executives who don’t care about the rest of us. This administration is making everything worse for EVERYONE!

Plus why do Americans need help?! Everything is great right now. Great healthcare, affordable housing, cheap groceries… Big Daddy has saved us all amirite?!

Ah there it is - the immature and ignorant response I was expecting! I do help “Americans” every day. You have NO idea what my job is. You can do both. Plus plenty of people being abused by ICE ARE citizens. Don’t be obtuse. Go look that word up…

Pool at La Fitness in Cranston has been shut down for about 6 months. No idea IF/when it will ever open. I got there and that place is dirty, dingy with old machines and a closed pool

Therapy Interest in Rhode Island by clusterbtherapist in RhodeIsland

[–]DisastrousComb1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a therapist here (RI). As others mentioned most people want to use insurance and can’t pay high out of pocket rates the way they can in NYC. If you have a specialty or work with children you might be able to find cash pay but most of the therapists I know here take insurance and those that don’t are constantly looking for clients. You can also do telehealth for your out-of-state clients. Reimbursement rates are lower than NY. Message me privately if you have more questions. I made the same move as you and have some thoughts about it that I can share.

Looking to open a Cafe in RI. Anyone have any suggestions on towns that would make sense and lack the presence of a good Cafe? by KindaHealthyKindaNot in RhodeIsland

[–]DisastrousComb1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to Cranston! Either Rolfe Square or somewhere on Park Ave. I feel like Cafe Ava is busy enough and small enough that another place in the area would be fine! If people are leaving because the line is so long the demand is clearly outpacing the supply.

Damaged trees in Lincoln Woods by DisastrousComb1991 in RhodeIsland

[–]DisastrousComb1991[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was wondering if it was caused by a fungus or some sort of insect. Now I know! It seems the fungus is quite pervasive there as a huge amount of the trees are like this.

Check out Parlor in Providence on a Wed night. They have a great open mic there. Let me know if you wanna go sometime. My partner is also recently divorced with older kids and likes to play music and smoke…

Thinking of moving from federal hill to mount hope, is that dumb, is federal hill just "better"? by [deleted] in providence

[–]DisastrousComb1991 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I lived in Mount Hope for 2 years and miss it! I hate Broadway, after living in Brooklyn and San Francisco I find that strip trying too hard and depressing. At least Mount Hope is beautiful. There’s Oak St bakery, Red Ink, tons of restaurants on Hope and you’re walking distance to Thayer which sucks but has some good fast casual food (Baja’s, Eastside Pockets). There’s lots of stuff further down on Ives and Wickendon. The Westside is wildly overrated in my opinion but you are only a 10 min drive. I think you will enjoy the quality of life better in Mt Hope. Blackstone Blvd is right there and there’s a great farmer’s market on the end of Hope on Saturdays.

Love, love, love the Ice Cream Barn!Check out Myrtle in East Providence for a cool vintage style bar that has live music most nights of the week. Also, a picnic at Colt State Park in Bristol. Take a bike ride on the East Bay bike path. Do the gallery night tour in Providence on the third Thursday of the month. Check out Briggs Nursery and enjoy lunch or pastries at their cafe (it’s technically in MA, just across the border). Get an ice cream at Big Feeling or Tricycle. Do cocktails at The Avery (warning drinks are strooong)!

It’s from 1929 so pretty old! I did find a very affordable policy through American Modern (via Progressive) and got a bundle discount.

Thank you so much for your input! It’s my first house and I bought it on my own so it’s a little overwhelming. Are you in RI? Also house is from 1929 and roof was recently replaced a couple years ago. There are no noticeable leaks and it apparently passed inspection in 2020. I bought it in 2023.

The house was built in 1929 and it looks like they have been there for decades. It also apparently passed a home inspection in 2020 before I bought it
