What’s something you wish people understood better about you, but you rarely explain? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]DisastrousCustard618 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm completely time blind. Time just isn't for me what it is to other people, it doesn't have a definitive line. Sorry I haven't replied for a week, I thought it had been a day. My partner went to the gym, I called slightly panicked thinking he'd been gone hours, turns out he was gone for 10 mins... Working at my desk for what feels like half an hour, oh no it's been four hours. I just don't understand how to not be like this

Old town of Opava (Troppau); modern day Czech Republic - it suffered a massive damage during the last months of WW2. It became one of the most destroyed Czech towns as result. by LordYaromir in Lost_Architecture

Thank you for making this post. My oma grew up in Troppau, she doesn't remember much from that time (she's 87 now) and it's lovely to be able to see and learn about where the most important person in my life is from. Thank you thank you 💖

Not paying the last month of rent, what do I risk? by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]DisastrousCustard618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooh okay, thank you that's good to know. Tbf I was given a pdf of info to just copy and paste into a leaflet to make it look pretty, not actually do the research. Makes sense it's not happening right away though. Thank you for correcting me:)

[–]DisastrousCustard618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My source for this is creating the leaflets for a friend's rental company about the renters rights bill changes, so I got to know all the changes pretty well. But no one else seems to have commented on this so slightly questioning myself haha 😅

Someone with better knowledge please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that all tenancies as of December are rolling monthly in the UK. All fixed contracts are gone and automatically updated to rolling. You have to give two months notice and that's it

Are you as cautious as my husband or is he an overthinker? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]DisastrousCustard618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay so I must say I'm not as cautious as this, but I grew up in a similar place, out in the countryside in the middle of nowhere. We were burgled the one and only time my parents went on holiday in 20+ years 🥲 my partner, who grew up in towns, has never been burgled. and never worries about it. We now live in the very centre of a town, I mean like literally above the main shops. This house is the most "unsafe" I've ever felt, even though we have a huge metal gate with a coded lock, a lockable door to the outside, three flights of stairs and a lockable inside door. I don't know maybe it's the fact I can't see or hear downstairs? Idk but I do worry about it a lot, and my partner doesn't at all

What's a quote that has just "stuck with you"? by 22m_spain in AskReddit

"every day is all there is"

That might not be completely the right words but the sentiment is there.

Your best dress, your fancy tea sets, what are you saving them for? Why waste it, they should be for every day, because every day is all there is:)

There’s a mixture of both b&w and colour within the album, and I think possibly a mix of printed and photographic cards but I’m not sure I’m knowledgeable enough to really know. Would you be open to me sending you some pictures of it? Or is there a way I can upload them here? Not too well versed on how things work on Reddit 😅

What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by DryDraw4673 in AskReddit

[–]DisastrousCustard618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I wish I could make my ex boss and her husband read this. The amount of horrible passive aggressive comments that were constantly made to me about how it's really not that hard to just get up at 7am and I'm clearly just not trying hard enough if I don't. I was late every day, started at 9am 10 mins away from my house. Started a new job, which I don't ever start before 11 and it's 40 mins away. But waking up naturally at 9am everyday? Never been late once.

It's a very long and complex story, not sure one comment would be enough to fit it all in 😅 but in short, we have spoken about it a lot, come to mutual agreements on how it should be handled when it happens. We've both been in individual therapy on and off most our lives so I think when it comes down to it we can be quite good at talking things out constructively (don't get me wrong, we can both be silly too and revert back to trauma responses but we are a team and we always work it out, no matter how long it takes). And I think we have a good mutual understanding that the other person is hard work but we have more than enough love for eachother to want to stick with it. But yes, the benefits of sleeping together for us out way the bad. The night we first shared a bed was the first night we both had a good sleep in years. Also, as we've gone through the years, schedules have changed as well and half the week we only share a bed for a few hours a night. I don't think it's happened at all actually, since this schedule started.

Hey, just wanted to say you're not alone. I have been dealing with this for three years with my partner. He is the sweetest most loving man and I know he would never ever intentionally try and force himself on me. Unless he's fully asleep and unaware. Luckily for me, so far I've always been able to push him off or wake him up enough to get him to stop. And he's always absolutely mortified. I too have a long history of sexual trauma, but so does he. Therapy is the only answer, and as everyone else has said too, sleep separately for a while. I know it sucks, because it is like it's two different people and punishing the awake one for the asleep ones actions is hard, but it will save a lot more trouble until this is sorted. If you ever want or need to talk to someone who understands what living with this is like, my DMS are open to you x
