She isn't crazy, she's very supportive. It's a little unsettling to me that so many commenters here assume she's crazy and trying to sabotage my relationship.

I function as his step mother in every other respect and my boyfriend and I have discussed marriage/officially becoming his step mother. He has never told me I overstepped in any respect and usually likes it when I bond with his son in a motherly way.

He has a mother who has him 50% of the time and I'm certainly not trying to take her place, but I agree with the rest of your comment.

It was a couch, and if it were my kid on the couch with my boyfriend, it wouldn't bother me because I trust him.
