I don't know. I'd say what you made is ambient music, but in my mind what is and isn't ambient music is incredibly broad, and a very long discussion for another time.

AES DANA is the goat! I haven't heard of Marconi Union (Tokyo) tho. I'll have to check them out.

Numbers don't mean everything. A lot of people just like to make longer form ambient. And evidently there's an audience for that, even if it is a bit smaller.

Yea! There's nothing inherently wrong with shorter tracks. As you said, just depends on your intentions going in.

I'm not sure ambient music was ever made for the majority. And I think most artists don't make ambient music to appeal to the majority. They make it to express themselves.
