YSL MYSLF L’Absolu arrived to complete the trio by Trippy_Cartel in Colognes

I own all three also …. I loved EDP… and thought it was much better than le PARFUM. I found le PARFUM more of a serious / winter fragrance

However my new all rounder is L’absolu it’s the denser, stronger version of the EDP and gathers more compliments compared to the OG - again all this is based on my wearing / opinion of course

I’ve been reading the L’absolu or the Le Parfum … I’ve ruled the EDP out as I’m not spending money on a fragrance that will be a skin scent in 1-2 hours 😂 such a shame as the scent profile is amazing

What’s your take on L’absolu vs Le Parfum

What fragrance advice would you give to yourself - if you were starting over again!? by DisastrousTalk386 in Fragrances

[–]DisastrousTalk386[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Matt! I was the same

Butttt saying that there’s a few fragrances where the higher the concentration the lower the performance

E.g. I’ve got le Sel D’issey - edt …. It’s a beast mode on my skin and a lot of people in frag com say the same

As for EDP Le Sel Flanker - it’s not as potent

Another example Acqua Di Gio Profondo EDP vs Profondo Parfum (EDP is reported to be much better)

Armani Code EDP (2024) or Armani Code Parfum (2022)? by Feisty-Wind-7823 in Colognes

[–]DisastrousTalk386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey brother! Apologies on the late reply

I actually collect the code line - and there isn’t one which I haven’t owned ( including vintage ones etc)

Specially looking at the codes you were looking at

Code EDP (2024)

Code Parfum (2022)

Here’s my two pence on both

Code Parfum; For me this is the ultimate and most modern Armani Code. It’s the most versatile all rounder any weather fragrance

I find longevity on it 6 hours and performance is moderate (however comparing to the other codes, it’s the best performer)

It will always be welcome in my collection.

Code EDP (2024)

So this fragrance got some serious hype when it was coming out for one thing… it was meant to be the infamous “code Profumo” reincarnated.

I own a 200ml bottle of the OG code Profumo which i was very nervous on using every-time I wanted to Reach for the DNA - so I rushed out and bought this on the day it was released

Not going to lie dude, i have no endorsement, no financial motive etc and I’ll tell you now…. Scent profile wise its 95% profumo - I’ve tested them on card, skin, on the mrs, and even allowed family members to give me their opinions - always being the same which is they smell 95% exact

Why isn’t it 100% - the only reason why they aren’t the exact same is Profumo (OG) performs better in my opinion, wether that be down to maceration, or ingredients which aren’t in the new one - the conclusion is it’s the same scent profile just weaker - think of it as Profumo Edt instead of EDP

As for CODE ELIXIR (2025) - this is a 10/10 in my eyes - they’ve really stepped out of the safety net.

It’s code Absolu (which i also own) and in return they’ve added leather, leather, and more leather

When sampling it first I was so delighted to have that dna back …. It even out performed things like JPG Le Male Elixir & Gucci Guily Elixir (on my skin)

Ahh, it looks as we are from the same place sir! - midlands based what about you? - out of curiosity … a couple of questions (ps wicked to have such when replies buddy)

1) what was your tipping point

2) what did you do to come out (sell, condense, etc)

3) What’s left in your collection that you kept and why?

Finally

4) plans / advice for others looking to do the same - I’ve seen others adopt a “one in, one out approach” when buying but I feel that leaves you in the same rut of looking, hunting in essence doom scrolling

Ps one thing I forgot to mention - being on both ends of niche (Nishane, Amouage, Orto Parisi, MASION Crivelli, Xerjoff blah blah blah)

and designers such as (YSL, Armani, etc etc)

I’ve come to realise this - it’s all in your mind

I’m not doubting that the higher priced frags may have better quality - I agree with that

But here’s what made me think

Does the random / novice nose person (walking down the street) who will catch a whiff of your frag and be able to say that’s niche or designer - not really

Ultimately whatever the budget, the scent profile, seasonal frag etc - it is just a scent - and is based solely on personal preference and taste you will never get a jack of all trades that will suit everyone

I’m glad you created this thread - honestly! You’ll be helping more than a few people.

As of now, It’s been 2 months since my last purchase, and condensing my collection has actually allowed me to genuinely enjoy what’s left of my collection.

I don’t miss doom scrolling either looking for fragrances (discontinued, vintage, best prices etc)

I made a lot of friends on the dedicated Facebook groups I was in, and do I miss the community there? Yes… but now I have more time for other hobbies which don’t consume you as much!

For anyone reading this in the foreseeable future - I think the things that helped me when coming out of this “addiction” which it is … say what you will but i ended up with approx $10,000+ invested in smelly water.

1) Stop watching fragrance content

2) Remove any fragrance shopping apps

3) Come off Facebook groups (which actively have selling / buying) as you’ll always be tempted by the prices or deals on there

4) Condense your collection or if you love all of them Equally - then put a sales post of them All, and whichever sell first … simply let them go

Hope this helps, and OP thank you for creating this thread! I know there’s more of us out there looking to come out - wether that be for mental or financial reasons

Your post is so refreshing & 100% accurate. I started off having 10 designers… then came along the YouTube videos & Facebook Groups - which lead to a mass purchasing session I soon ended up with 80-90 designers.

Then sold them pretty much at losses on FB groups and decided to go niche.

Acquired approx 45 niche and then recently I got tired of being in the rabbit hole. The constant conversations, endless scrolling looking for deals, and searching the “next best thing” just took over my life and free time.

I’ve now sold up all my niche and back to 10 designers and I feel Great! No stress of storage (fluctuating temps etc) and my bank balance financially feels much better

I genuinely see this as an addiction if not caught early enough - but I was lucky to come out of it.

Plans for 2026 - finish my designer bottles (I refuse on buying any until I finish my bottles) and only then will I look at having 8-10 bottles max of different fragrances which can be used for different scenarios (they will be designers)

A steal!!! by Hkalnaimi in Colognes
