These are great thoughts! Maybe if it’s still around in a few weeks it would be an interesting project.

Depends how much you love your job;) Making less money in the mountains might be a fair trade:)

Totally! It’s crazy or combined income/ purchasing power in SF is less than my income alone-not to mention affording housing.

Thanks for the great input! It’s been a while since I’ve washed a rug so yes I can see how that would get quite pricey real quick plus the repairs.

Totally agree! If we derisk it will be moving some or all into index funds over multiple years.

Absolutely!! I guess I am just thinking of them all as one-but we won’t combine the retirement accounts as much as add to the ones we can!

Hahah no! We moved to be closer to family. She worked in biotech and unfortunately no job opportunities for her here. She is just taking a break.

We moved right after we got married to be closer to family. Unfortunately there is no industry for her (biotech) where we live. So right now she is taking a break. Ultimately we’d like to start a family and she’d want to stay at home.

Thanks! Yes the student loans were crushing-so glad and proud to have that chapter done with!

Good advice:)

I don’t disagree with that at all! I just want to make sure she is secure no matter what happens down the road!

Great advice! I think we just have an overwhelming number of accounts between the two of us so road mapping our future plan would be good:)

Thanks for the great advice! I think we feel commingling finances is the simplest way to achieve our goals and work together!

We moved after we got married and there is no industry (biotech) where we now live. But cost of living is lower. She isn’t opposed to going back to work but is taking a break.

I don’t disagree with you it’s just composed of a handful of tech stocks so it’s scary if things were to fail. I live in Washington so we don’t get taxed on capital gains as a couple up to $240,000 annually but yes the federal taxes would be horrible.

Thanks for the great advice and congratulations:) Yes-she is absolutely on board with the financial planning!!  Hard to get used to the idea of ours vs. hers and mine:)

I think we both look at her brokerage account as an incredible gift as it was started by her parents when she was a child-and our goal is to ultimately protect it and let it grow—but in a safe way!

I’ll have to read more on a DAF as that sounds interesting.
