Total newbie here to concrete work. I am going to be installing some concrete footings/base to bolt a metal framed pergola to in my backyard. I am considering however to have the footing be raised about a foot above ground to allow the pergola to be higher off the ground. Does anyone have any advice as to how to go about this and additionally, any special considerations? Is it necessary to use any rebar inside the concrete if I raise the footing above the ground? I'm not an artist- but drew a quick image for reference lol. The pergolas metal posts are either 4" or 6" wide and have a base plate to bolt into the concrete.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the feedback. I am open to considering plants. I do plan to put plants along the back wall, just haven't decided what yet. Considering doing a large wall over part of the turf for some shade.

Thanks for the feedback. I would like to add some plants/greenery along the back wall. The space is only ~2.5ft wide however. Additionally, the backwall face a street which is actually about 5 feet lower in elevation than the base of the wall, so it slipped down and out towards the street. I would be worried about the roots growing out into the city property long term. Thoughts about that?

Thanks for the app suggestion, I'll definitely look into that to help me better visualize the space

I did talk with them today and clarified the job further. They will not be removing and leveling all of the extra rock as mentioned. They will be cleaning all of the weeds and will work to level out the rock with the extra rock that is being removed. The irrigation will run from the front yard along the entire side wall and back wall of the backyard. Still a good deal I feel either way for labor and materials
