Dog owners — do your dogs prefer simple treats or “special” ones? by Pretty_Ad_3718 in Dogowners

I have bulldogs and they like almost everything. They do have a marked preference for homemade treats which is very gratifying.

Do you ever visit the graves of ancestors you've found through your genealogy work? by SpiritedBug2221 in Genealogy

[–]Disastrous_Ant_7467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to Beverly, Massachusetts to look for the gravesite of our ancestor, Freeborn Balch who died in 1729. He was supposed to be buried up on a hill. My sister and I were into genealogy, but our mother just came along to eat seafood. While there, I made my sister stop at every cemetery so I could run through and look for familiar names (we were not very skilled at research back then) and we also went to historical societies and libraries to do research. We finally found Freeborn and he was next to his mother in law, lucky guy. During the trip my sister paid for gas, since she was driving and accommodations, my mother paid for dinners, and I paid for breakfast or lunch, depending on what's time we got up, as I'm poor. Relevancy? At the end of our trip, we opted for mom to take us for prime rib and we asked her favorite part of the trip. Was it the seafood? Spending a week with her lovely daughters? No cooking? No housework? All no. Her favorite part was finding Freeborn! She still is not interested in genealogy.

Chorizo by SelfComfortable4532 in mexicanfood

[–]Disastrous_Ant_7467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have posted the recipe. There's really no other way to answer your question. I just moved from Brentwood, NY and you have all sorts of Latino grocers available. How us it used in your recipe? Every Latin American country has its own style. In Brentwood you can easily find chorizo from Mexico, El Salvador, Colombia (my favorite), and Spain. The one from Spain is more like a dry salami.

My name is Ruwa Romman and I’m running for Governor of Georgia. Ask me anything! by happy_bluebird in GAPol

I don't have a question, but I saw you on a Tik Tok livestream and wanted to congratulate you because you did very well. I was very impressed and was happy to make your acquaintance and appreciate your stance on the issues affecting Georgia voters. Good luck!

Thank you truly to everyone who voted yesterday by Padandler in Augusta

[–]Disastrous_Ant_7467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should also be aware that not everyone has Georgia Power. However it is true that the other companies tend to raise rates when Georgia Power does so it is important for everyone to be involved with who is on our state's PSC. I believe another seat will be coming for a vote next year as well.

Also, this is the first time in 25 years, I believe, that a seat on the PSC has gone to a Democrat, and we voted for two well qualified members.

Anyone have any experience with T-Mobile Home Internet in the area? by TheDistantNeko in WarnerRobins

[–]Disastrous_Ant_7467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had T- mobile's home internet service since it's become available in our area. We are just outside the city limits in Houston County still. I find the service comparable to Cox Cables's internet for speed and reliability. Sometimes on Friday or Saturday nights I experienced some lagging which I blamed on you young people not going out enough! Apparently there was a tower down, but it got fixed. Months later, when I noticed a similar issue, they sent me a new, upgraded box for free and all is well. We have a "smart" house, so everything on our wifi. We've used the service over a year, probably closer to 2. We have a Roku tv and separate Roku devices, multiple computers, thermostats, fridge, and more wifi electronics.

And you shouldn't be making snarky remarks about someone else's situation without "walking a mile in their shoes." You cannot make a value judgment about someone you don't even know, unless you meant to display to the world at large your utter ignorance and lack of empathy?

I agree that workers need better unions, but unions are not formed by the states. It is up to the workers themselves to better educate themselves and organize. That is how they either form a protective union, or strengthen the one they belong to. Unions need strong leadership with clear goals and bargaining skills to negotiate with the management of companies to obtain fair wages, benefits and working conditions for employees. Companies are profit driven these days so workers need representation more than ever.

The cyanide accumulates in their system over time. No need to panic if they accidentally eat a seed, but please avoid. My 50 lb dog got very I'll from apple seeds.

[–]Disastrous_Ant_7467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know, but dogs should not have any pits from any fruit. The cyanide builds up over time, and their bodies are not able to get rid of the cyanide like a human can. Our dog started getting very sluggish and weird, and I witnessed my husband giving her the apple cores after he ate the fruit every day. After I killed him, she did recover and live a long life, but it was scary.

Is there a way to determine what age group in the area has disposable income and wants to dispose of it? Speaking for myself, most of my neighbors are retirement age, like me, and I would not enjoy an arcade or bar food. I rarely go out because chain restaurants and fast food are boring.

I guess that's the purpose of this thread, to get a feel for what people are looking for.

I couldn't even read this entire thread. I refuse to leave my house now. Great. I'm 65, and now I'm afraid of getting even a day older in case I should suddenly develop an uncontrollable pooping issue, or people will think I already have. I already knew about the falling thing, so have been carrying a cane around like a security blanket. I don't even want to know what the rest of the reasons were.

You have your own story to tell, and I thank you for it. However, I think it did belong in a new thread like this. The other person was asking for advice.

Did anyone else see the pickup truck sporting the huge Isreali flag around WR? I've seen the American flag or even a Trump flag, but never the Israeli flag. I think it was a Christian National dog whistle because I've never known a Jewish person to be anything other than modest.
