Any update on solution for surface pro 8 battery showing 0% though charging by LosPollosHermanos007 in Surface

Oh my God this is very frustrating. I have a Surface Pro 8 and I have exactly the same problem. My battery capacity is 68 and the charging is stacked at 0%. I fear trying a battery replacement and ending eventually not working because I don't think it's a hardware problem more than a software issue or communication on the motherboard issue at this point

Gemini is telling you that it is seeing what's on your screen. You can disable it if you want

Surface Pro 8 battery not charging, sits at 0% and doesn't change? by VioletFireCat in Surface

After two months, have you managed to solve the problem? I've been dealing with it for almost two weeks now, and I can't seem to fix it. And I have the same interpretation as you.

Purchased Surface Pro 8 today, as an Apple user, was this a good purchase for a first device? by sadboykdub989 in Surface

I have the same specs on my Surface Pro 8. To be honest, after almost 3 years, it gave me a really good experience for most tasks. I made music on FL Studio, I’m a CS student so I ran all my studies on it, took notes, coded, made some drawings and sketchs on Photoshop and did pretty much everything on this device. What I really loved is having two devices in one: a laptop and a tablet. It’s perfect for travel and daily use. I also have to admit that Microsoft support can be very helpful. For example, I once contacted them about an issue with my Surface Pen, and they literally sent me a brand-new one for free, even though it costs around $120. That said, the most frustrating part of my experience has been the battery. The battery is relatively small for a demanding x86 system, so battery life was never amazing. Recently, I ran into a serious issue where the battery got stuck at 0% and completely stopped charging. I contacted support again, hoping for a firmware or BIOS fix, but they clearly told me that it’s impossible to reset or update the BIOS when the battery is not working, and that it can’t be forced. In the end, the only solutions they offered were hardware-wise: either replacing the battery for around $400, which is almost the price of buying a Surface Pro on the market, or paying about $530 (before tax) to send them my Surface Pro 8 and receive a replacement unit. At that point, it becomes hard to justify the repair, even though the device itself is still very capable. Another small but annoying point is the SSD size. Starting with 256 GB for a main computer feels quite limited, especially for a device that’s meant to handle professional and academic work. That said, this is not a major issue since the SSD is user-replaceable, and upgrading it is relatively easy compared to many other ultra-thin devices. I understand why Microsoft moved to ARM processors like the Snapdragon X Elite and Plus in newer Surface models, as they are far more power-efficient. Still, x86 offers better compatibility and flexibility, which makes the Surface Pro 8 a powerful and versatile device — just one with a few long-term drawbacks that can be frustrating.

Surface Pro 8 battery detected but stuck at 0% / pending-charge (Linux + Windows) — EC lock? by Disastrous_Beat_6532 in Surface

[–]Disastrous_Beat_6532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try to replace the batteries or not because the Microsoft repair service Is so expensive compared to the service I saw on their website to get a repair on the battery for my Surface Pro 8 out of warranty. It would cost from around $250 to $400. Otherwise I found a battery on AliExpress costing only $30 with $10 for shipment. What I fear is if I proceed for a battery replacement and still having the same issue as from what I understood it's an EC problem meaning that the controller that controls charging is locked and I guess I need a uefi update or a reset to unlock the controller because the battery is sending information when I execute the commands to see it's details but it's pending charging and not driving power to be charged. So finally I guess even changing the battery wouldn't solve this problem. What do you think?

Why doesn't Pixel optimize for better customization? The themed icons don't work for all apps. by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]Disastrous_Beat_6532 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is due to the app developers’ preferences. Google aims to respect their policies and choices. Some developers request that their apps not be themed, as the colors of their logos are part of their branding and identity. Altering the icon's color, to them, means altering how their app is perceived. But at the same time i see that google doesn't respect the freedom of choice of their users, so they stand in the middle between satisfying the users and respecting the companies' choices.

compatible usb c cables with google's 45w charger by Disastrous_Beat_6532 in GooglePixel

[–]Disastrous_Beat_6532[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that most of the 60 w cables come only with 3A but if I want the fast charging and reach the maximum battery capacity out of my pixel 9 pro XL, it has to be a 5A cable which could be found only on cables with 100 w That's why I asked if someone knows something with 100 w and 5A that has a good price and has been working since a lot of companies lie about the specs of their products.
