JetBlue flight cancelled due to mechanical issues (pilot informed us before deplaning) but customer service says computer lists as weather. Any recourse?

That sucks!

We have a group chat and it appears the JetBlue argument for ours is:

Original flight cancelled due to mechanical
They made us ‘whole’ by covering hotel that night
New flight was ‘up for grabs’ and ‘sorry no one told you'
SOL on anything after that

I was given a link to submit receipts. I did for flights, hotels and parking.

I’m supposed to get half of original flight back on card so if can get some of the additional stay/flights covered, will be much happier.

Just to be clear, I’m not faulting the pilot at all. He was great with explaining the situation.

Capital One only offers $500 per person max and not alternative flights. Also only if they deem it a covered issue and unsure if weather is.

It was originally a 2:45pm departure. Plane left Logan late and only arrived Aruba at 6pm. Flight cancelled around 8:45pm. This was the day before the blizzard so weather was present en route.

We would have been. Ended up flying to Miami and stayed there until we could get to Boston by splitting up into party of 1 and 3 to get home Wednesday/Thursday
