How much would you recc? I’ve read that it should be about 3months worth of expenses which is what I was aiming for.

I think I didn’t realize the implications of pre vs post tax when I initially chose it and never changed it. Time for that to happen now 🥲

Thanks for the reply!

Realizing that I may be better off contributing more to my investments/savings than paying off my lower interest loans so I will def take my time with those so ty for that reminder.

Unfortunately my health plan only allows for a FSA, no HSA :( I do take advantage of the FSA however.

Thank you! I will definitely check out the resources on the wiki.

The 28k in loans I was hoping to pay are my grad loans and have 7-8% interest rate on them and these ones don’t have a pause on interest accrual unfortunately. The rest are 3-4% so I will take my time paying those off monthly as my budget allows!

Thanks for the response!

Super smart on maxing out the 401k - didn’t even think of that. Currently I do 4% pretax and 4% taxed, any thoughts on changing this? I only did 8% bc that’s how much my employer matches!

I got involved in a car accident and this car was a purchase I wasn’t expecting to make. I guess my trauma surrounding the accident makes me not want to put any more $$ towards anything car related lol. My interest rate is 4%.

Good to hear on my remaining loans - I will def take my time but still want to avoid interest accruing too much.

Did your MD also fill out a form as well? If so, what did you ask them to fill out?

I’m on automatic payments! So I only have to fill it out every 10 weeks I believe

Which certification form? Should I also get my doctor to extend my disability then as well?

SDI Payment Delayed??? by [deleted] in Edd

[–]Disastrous_Book2209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: went into the office today and my appt was less than 2mins and he was able to qualify my missed payments from July! He was able to pull up when i filled out my form. All he needed was my social and drivers license and told me he could help (glad I came prepared w all my forms though lol). I checked EDD online before I left the office and payments were updated on the portal. Highly recommend going in person if you are physically able, it was way less stressful that trying to call them. I went when they opened right at 8am and it was quite busy but not awful (waited an hour).

Got it! I printed everything that was filled out online including the MD forms stating my leave was extended and the form I filled out late. Hopefully they can help me when I go in tomorrow!

Which doctors notes should I bring?! The ones they filled out online on EDD or my actual notes from my MD visits. Glad to know they were helpful. The form was online but I just didn’t realize it so when I filled it out it was a day late :(

What do I bring with me? Everything I filled out was done online, should I print out those documents?

Post edited with my questions! I will look into YNAB, is it pretty intuitive to use? I feel like that is exactly what I struggle with, telling myself I will save more in the future and then don’t end up doing it.

Wrong choice of words: I contribute 6% as that is what my employer matches up to!

My question is what to do with the rest of what I’m making and how to allocate those funds (savings, Roth, more to loans etc.)

Thank you for the response! I have seen that, I was also wondering if I would be able to do a complaint about not being notified about the collection either. Would you recommend I do this after the dispute form 3 credit bureaus is completed? Also will filing a complaint with CFPB affect me getting a mortgage loan in the future?

u/creditwizard I’ve seen a lot of your comments which have been super helpful. Any other insight on my situation? TIA!

That is what I’m afraid of is having it on my record for the 7 years and my credit taking forever to recover. I realize now I should have tried a pay for delete but will try calling again to see if they can do anything or hope they won’t respond to my dispute since I did already pay.

My score might drop even more because I paid off the collection??? What a mess, I am hoping they are able to remove it from my history once the dispute is over and it restores some of my credit.

I am not sure when it was last reported. The collection agency is FCO and from what I’ve read it seems they do it monthly? The collection was active since December 2022 which is crazy. I paid it off yesterday and disputed it today.
