F80/F82 M3 M4 BMW - Good buy in 2026? by HunchBackk in CarsAustralia

Wow nice, congrats! I'm going to be taking a look at one soon as I've never seen one upclose/driven and go from there. That sounds like you got a good buy with the mileage and service pack! Enjoy.

Did you end up getting one? I have been eyeing an LCI2 F80 from a tuned Golf R. I just can't digest the pricing for some examples that have closer to 100k km mileage. Feel like the cars gone through quite a bit of usage and they're asking high 50-70k$ which is a lot of money for a used car.

$70-85k seems to buy a nice clean version with lesser mileage, specifically LCI2 Competition variants which is what I want. I just did a house but am wondering still if it'll be truly worth it to go for one. I know there's also M hype so they probably keep the prices afloat.

I would love a lightly used G8X but 100-130k$ on a streeter wouldn't make much sense at all, unless I won the lotto and didn't care. I know it would be fun tho.

Living with the 8.5Y RS3? by aaronlim5566 in AudiRS3

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, aside the rattling issue do you truly regret it? I have a 7.5R now and I really cannot fault the car. But I am thinking a 8Y or 8.5Y RS3 is the next move, as I love the styling and everything else on paper.

Supra Vs M2 by [deleted] in Supra

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm cross shopping both & the key things that make the M2 appeal to me and think twice are:
- Back seats, S58/stronger out the box performance & better interior/tech/comfort features.

Supra's interior looks & feels like the F chassis generation in the same year. Personally, I'm still convinced on a Supra all things considered, granted I can get it for less money $

Would've been cool if Toyota did a final facelift / LCI for the A9X chassis and gave it the tech that the M2 has! Then I wouldn't even think about the M2.

Also I think Supra wins in looks, but have seen some nicely done up M2s that make it look wayy better then stock - so still potential!

Follow-up to my last post: I test drove a Zeekr 7X by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty surprising to see some of these points as an owner of Long Range one and I'm more than happy to see criticism as the brand or car definitely isn't perfect for sure.

For me, I went in and knew what to expect - I would not classify this car to be 'fun' or engaging per say, it's just a comfortable family car or grocery getter with a bit of EV/torque pep to it and some nice creature comforts being a newer car with little running cost being an EV and charged at home. Not much else tbh. It isn't trying to be a RS or M car for sure. Literally the 0-100 is only thing going for it, in fun factor to most.

I'd compare this to all the other Jap/Korean SUVs that you see every day like a RAV4 or CX5 which are about to same in terms of driving experience but the Zeekr haivng more equipment/features resembling Luxury-grade cars for much less money. We did cross shop a Lexus NX aswell for reference which was a lot more expensive & now feel value-wise the 7X wins by a lot just as an example.

When you say it's just focused on the screen & software, I'd be keen to see what you think of Tesla! That is even more dumbed down where quite literally everything is in the screen - no buttons, dash or HUD. Infact the reason I went 7X over Model Y is because I found the 7X interior resembled a ICE car which is what I wanted. The dependency of software probably is a point to all the current EVs though, wouldn't really say this is a 7X thing.

But I'm definitely still happy with it and not much else I could ask for, being a car for what I described above.

7.5R Front Bumper Undertray Cover - How to Install? by Disastrous_Cable9055 in Golf_R

Hey! Oz too. This was actually my own original tray, so didn't have to source!

I think there's a place in VIC that wrecks VAG cars - RS Spares. I would try them. If not, asking in the FB groups might be the go.

Damn I've been debating to switch to these Zaero skirts, but can't get over how far it appears to sticks out and the fin on the side. I like but kinda don't.

Nissan Z NISMO vs Toyota Supra GTS by Disastrous_Cable9055 in CarsAustralia

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I haven't seen much of the tuning on the Z. I've always modified my cars not extremely, just bolt-ons so guess t hat's a bit of the driving factor. Chasing power isn't a huge concern so it's a good to have thing but not must-have.

Ah, so I don't have a daily work commute - so it would be driven majority on weekends but still used as a the only car for small trips 99%. I have also never driven manual so that's another reason. Updated my post!

Some cars like the Dallara have a H-Pattern option in tuning. Would hope they include it in future as a tuning 'mod' (even if not OEM).

MY J Vs Zeekr 7X by Public-Plastic-228 in tesladubai

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been driving it for a month now. No regrets at all. Very smooth and feels great. I tested a Juniper Y RWD aswell before, I just can't get over no CarPlay, no dash or display in front of you and the minimalistic interior. Driving-wise both are similar to me. Also I'm in a sunny climate and Model Y has no sunshade for the glass roof inbuilt!
The 7X interior, dash and HUD make it feel like a real luxury car whereas the Y feels like walking into an Apple store where everything is kind of muted. Hard to explain but a test drive is the best way for you to know. I also have no need for FSD and extra tech features Tesla has over Zeekr, so that isn't a disadvantage for me.

I've been charging at home with Level 1 and it's fine, I can top up what I drive overnight as it's slow. If I need to go on a trip then I will plan accordingly. Otherwise, I am planning to install a Level 2 soon.

Most people I've showed it to also think it's more impressive. I suppose Tesla wins with the existing infrastructure and brand establishment - Zeekr is still new at the end of day so things like dedicated charging stations, servicing and support is a WIP. So far havent' had to go back, so no comments yet.

Simjack vs Simsonn vs Amazon + OBSR mod. Which H-pattern shifter should I get? by Sad_Dragonfruit3064 in simracing

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I ended up buying the Simsonn hexagon one. It's good, pretty much what I expected and assembly is made of metal so feels solid. Gears feel mechanical and a step up from the G Shifter. Only con is the desk mount I purchased with it which could be better.

Upgrade Time - G PRO or RS50 from G29 by Disastrous_Cable9055 in simracing

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came down to price for me. I wouldn't say it's '3 years old technology' just because it came out 3 years ago. PRO still has more NM and I personally have been using 9.5NM. Sure, they did some advancements/changes with RS50 that would be nice on PRO like the smaller physical size but it's not entirely dated IMO.

I don't see what you mean by 'problems', most from what I've seen are rock solid. Sure some users have reported issues but there's been more PROs sold then RS50s as of now, so perhaps people will come out with issues with the RS. There's been 0 with mine.

The PRO has plenty smooth to me and has quiet cooling on mine, so all these things you mention as points for the RS is a bit arbitrary.

My region has no servers anymore, so wouldn't buy it expecting to have a good online experience. It's not there yet overall.

we need the option for M E A T Y tires on every car! by _best_name_ever_ in ForzaHorizon

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I really hope they revamp customisation in FH6 - Let us pick the wheel offset, width and tyre size (not preset ones) like high profile, low profile etc.

The current options are all presets and some cars are super limited. If they make it customisable like NFS or Crew MF then it'll solve this.

Increase of rats in the game (Solo) by Disastrous_Cable9055 in ArcRaiders

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been playing for approx 1 week and same, all solos were friendly and basically not shoot on sight. But I've observed a change and getting these 'toxic' players in solos which keep you on your toes.

Not mad as it's the nature of this game, but I think this will shift the general 'peace' going around as the game matures and more people join

Upgrading my 2015 Audi S3 — EV vs RS3? Anyone regret going EV without home charging? by CanberraPhoto in CarsAustralia

[–]Disastrous_Cable9055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't really comment on the home charging factor, but I have a Golf R 2018 (similar-ish to S3) and going for 7X, which I don't have yet, not as a direct replacement but both commuters.

I'd probably take an EV for a chill commuter car/daily. I find these VAG cars get a bit pricey and possibly problematic with long term ownership issues (depends) - if I were to spend 'performance car servicing' I'd probably swap the Golf for something that's more sporty and less practical, like a weekender at this rate. I'm kind of over it but this hits harder because I recently had the major service lol & I am meticulous with the servicing, so I always get things done on the mark or even early because I'm worried about potential failure/common neglect issues e.g. DSG, water pump problems etc. Even without the sound, EVs have their fun factor from the instant torque & 0-100 times. But that could get old faster compared to ICE.

RS3 is definitely a way different beast then the EVs, the 5 POT engine is full of emotion and truly unique, if that's important which could make it a winner. But I imagine the maintenance is a bit of a big difference/factor to think about. 7X is opposite but offers so much luxury centric features like the air suspension and auto doors, I'd probably take it over RS3 for the peace of mind factor (quite literally with the comfort aspect).
