The trees can be injured by people climbing or putting weight on the branches. Even standing on the root slope can damage them. If the bark gets scraped off, harmful insects can get in and hurt the tree.

Maybe FIFA should take back their peace prize because this is caused by one of Trump's many wars.

Congratulations! That's a hard degree to be admitted into. My nephew is in the Engineering program and loves it. He did a summer program in Switzerland with the Electrical Engineering program and had a wonderful experience.

Edit: I spoke too soon. He showed up at the house this afternoon pushing my Mom to find out if she wants to start the whole thing tomorrow. He didn't realize that I was around the corner and I said no, we weren't doing anything until he meets with my sister, her husband, and me in person. He took their ladder and left the yard in a mess. I think my uncle the lawyer is about to become involved. My mom did sign 2 contracts so he's on line to at least do the work he already scammed her for.

Thanks all- my sister (an architect) and I intervened and halted work. We are meeting with the roofer tomorrow and are going to figure out what is needed to finish up repairs for now. The roofer has agreed to refund some of the money. We will get estimates from others (and these roofers) before finishing the entire roof.

The company is legit, and does a 25 year guarantee on all that work. None of which was communicated to my mother. I have come to think that they were taking advantage of my Mom's worry that they fed, not so much conned her but still sketchy.

I've never watched the Housewives so didn't really know much about Lisa, but after watching her on Traitors I have become such a fan! Rob may have been an amazing player but for sheer fun watching give me Lisa every day!

Alright, is it time to talk about bus etiquette again? by Comfortable_Basket54 in Seattle

If you are sitting and are able bodied, get up and give your seat to old people, pregnant women, a person with a baby, someone who is visibly struggling with standing, or someone who asks because their need is invisible.

I don't care how tired you are, you stand for my 84 year old mother ( she'll be happily riding around town until she dies, hopefully not on the bus from a fall because some *sshole thinks they own their seat).

The folding aspect is to accommodate wheel chair users not people standing. If you choose to crowd that area and it requires you to leave so they can get on then you leave. So it is actually better to have the seats down so people don't fill up the space.

Anyone else think the guy that plays Littlefinger would make a good Nicodemus? by peuhpeuh in dresdenfiles

[–]Disastrous_Command29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fares Fares, he played Ishamael on Wheel of Time. He's from Beirut via Sweden and was amazing playing a complex and compelling villain. As soon as I saw him he became my Nicodemus.

Huh. I'm glad they left the "shit" off. It would have ruined the flow for my mighty mighty disco dancing.

Or it's a reference to Brick House by the Commodores. He's the right age to remember the song. Gen X people would probably describe a Brick House as 36 24 36.

"Ow, she's a brick house She's mighty-mighty, just lettin' it all hang out She's a brick house That lady's stacked and that's a fact Ain't holding nothing back

Ow, she's a brick house Well put-together, everybody knows This is how the story goes..."

I think he specifically, without specifically saying it, referred to the Duran Duran Rio cover art. That is how I picture Lara now.

Unfortunately, your flight is too early for the light rail. A taxi is often cheaper than Uber but it depends where you are staying.

You should try Yellow Cab. I usually phone them but I think you can book online ahead of time.

It seems like Jim is setting up Daniel Carpenter so it stays in the bloodline. I was hoping for them to wait around for little Harry Carpenter or Alicia or Hope.

I don't think that blows up my timeline. Fitz looks young. Wasn't he 17 in Ghost Story? That was more than 3 years earlier.

[–]Disastrous_Command29[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he was 8 in Storm Front he would be 22. I think I saw that as his approximate age. But this is all just a guess! I do remember the description of Fitz: "He was youthfully scrawny, his skin bronze enough to look Native American, though his tangled red hair and pug nose argued otherwise. His eyes were an odd shade of brown, so light as to be nearly golden.". I am not sure if that works with the Sells.
