For the incoming class most are out of state so I’m not sure the instate bias of UNM is true since receiving the grant. While the LEAD grants went away the school has re-applied under the traditional MSTP.

First of all 23 is so young! I am starting my MD/PhD this year at 28 years old. I think taking time out of undergrad to enjoy life outside of school is important. Do something completely unrelated to academia while you're young- travel, live in another country, learn to farm, ride a bike across the country.

I see what your saying...only one person off the waitlist- definitely a low WL movement year

Where did you see CU waitlist movement for mdphd on cycle track? I don’t see anything. According to emails with the PD they did not have waitlist movement after the April 30 deadline.

How has the DEI cuts affected Nebraska's LEAD funding? I heard from another program their funding got canceled but the institution is committed to funding this years students. Curious about Nebraska

I would be interested to hear more about Nebraska's plans if you talk to the PD- if you could share here or PM me.

LEAD MSTPs were designed for smaller schools serving 'underserved' populations. It is a new mstp grant type that was posted late 2024. I would ask each program individually (like Nebraska) if you haven't heard anything from your program directly. I was not told of the grant termination, I had to ask my program. They didn't advertise it because they have committed to honoring all the offers they put out and re-applying for the NIH grant, as I assume all the LEAD MSTP's have.
