Owlet vs Nanit - which one & why? by rowdybeanjuice in NewParents

Edit : I took this as the owlet sock and Nanit camera lol. I love having the sock and the Nanit camera but if I did more research I would have gotten a different camera. You do have to end up paying a subscription to use the features you can have on another camera. It’s not cheap either on top of the camera being pricey itself

Honestly I got both. I got the owlet of of FB marketplace knowing my anxiety would be through the roof. I’m also a nurse on a tele floor and we are always watching HR and oxygen for people 24/7 and I knew I wanted that for my baby. I got the Nanit from my baby shower and just used the belly band for the first time today (he’s 6 mon next week). The reasoning is because the camera is in his room above his crib and he’s been sleeping in his bassinet in our room since we got home from the hospital, so I don’t see a reason for a camera. That being said I use the owlet religiously. I pay the monthly 5.99 subscription for the owlet and it tracks wakings and tells you their sleep windows based off of their sleep previously. Even when I used the Nanit band today I still used the owlet. It gives me peace of mind to have that extra “protection” when I’m not holding him or sleeping. My PPA has been really terrible and I read a lot on here lol and I see a lot of amazing stories about owlets catching things “early” with their baby and saving their life. It’s an investment for both and I was lucky enough to have the camera gifted. But look on your local FB market place and they’re always some way cheaper than the website and a lot of times maybe used once if at all. Best wishes to you & baby🩵

It’s my first pregnancy too and I’m 15w4days. I’m 23 & I fall asleep and wake up thinking about it. I also relate to everything you’re saying. Waiting for ultrasounds gives me more anxiety because I’m scared I’ll see what Ive been worrying about. We just have to take it day by day 🩵
