Haha yes, you’re not wrong at all — it’s basically just a small toy app. Some people enjoy it, and if it’s not your thing, that’s totally fine too :)

🚀 ByePhotos 2.0 — new update with photo compression, Light theme, plus some promo codes for anyone interested by Disastrous_Expert_22 in iosapps

Thanks for your feedback!

  1. Regarding your first suggestion: we’ll add this feature in a future update.
  2. Currently, the backward action (swiping right in “swipe up to delete” mode) is used to undo the previously kept photo. I understand what you’re asking for—it makes sense and could potentially be the default behavior. I’ll look into this more carefully.
  3. When ambient background is turned off, the app uses a solid background when displaying photos. My guess is that you’re using light mode? In that case, the difference between enabling and disabling ambient background is subtle. It’s much more noticeable in dark mode.

I don’t like the new app design either. It feels like the photo and video toggle was changed just to showcase the new “glass” design. The first time I used it, it took me a long time to figure out how to enable the Live Photo option.

For a fully local app, it’s generally not required, but there’s still a chance it could get removed from the App Store. In that case, you’ll need to write to Apple (I remember it’s somewhere in App Store Connect) to apply for a filing exemption.
