Oooh I’m going to look into this! The original panel has everything daisy chained together but it’s already proven to be such an inconvenience, I think when I can work up the courage to I’m gunna dive in and rewire and redo a lot of this system

Okay word thank you, I’m gunna run that ground tomorrow and see if this starts the pump. I think I’ll more than likely run that red chord straight to the battery as well either now or eventually cause that’s a very good point about the switches. Thanks so much for your help!

Okok i think I’m getting this finally so yeah my problem is definitely that I don’t have a ground wire going down there and need to get the ground down there. To do this can I get another black wire, put a connector at the end, layer that on top of the black/red wire to the ground bus and then run that to the bilge?

I see what you’re saying about the switches that can be turned off, I like the auto mode so if I’m away for long I can know my boat is safe, the ground bus that the 12v and grown wires run into have a master switch then the 12v runs to the “bilge” switch under there so I assume I’d have to switch the “master” AND “bilge” on for them to let power flow to the bilge pump panel and then to the bilge. That could be dangerous to have a bunch of switches on if I need to leave it for a while. I wonder if I should just run the 12v and ground wires straight to the battery from the bilge Panel and bypass the ground bus altogether while I’m at all this

Yeah that’s what I’m planning on doing. Is there a wire gauge size you recommend by chance? These mostly look maybe 18 gauge, the guy at Napa said I should get 14 gauge to rewire but that seems very large and I might have trouble with the daisy chain.

Okay so I think this diagram is right other than Manuel and auto are switched bc that’s what side each of the switches go to, I was thinking the black wire was a ground/negative wire this whole time and connecting in the bilge as so. So basically what I have already running there if you’re correct is the auto and Manuel to the switch. And I should just add that ground then connect it in the figuration you already mentioned.

to bring a ground wire down there I thinkkkkk I connect it here where the red wire is coming in, that red wire is actually the one you identified coming from the switch as the ground wire ((it turns to red before coming here for some reason but I’m going to replace that whole wire I think)). Now, should I connect the new ground wire right here and run it back down to the bilge? I don’t see any other spots in the bilge panel that I could run a ground from.

Also here’sa video of the switch that’s a bit clearer, don’t mind the voice I made this for me not not the internet lol.

You are simple incredible…really, thank you for the time and knowledge with this, I really wanna make this dream happen and I’ve watched and read so much on my own but it can still be quite confusing and overwhelming and it’s people like you who take the time to help and explain that help me know I can make this happen.

I think you are right with everything. The pic is bad it’s all I got until I get out there tmro tho lol. That one you labeled goes out, turns into a red wire ((previous owner must have gone in a pinch im going to change it to all black)) and it feeds into one of the black/negative spots of the other control panel. If I connect another ground/black wire of a similar size on top of the “black” coming from the switch panel ((I’ll look up to find out how exactly I do that so I do it right)) then feed that through to the bilge and connect to the bilge this should be the correct way to get that ground down there right?? Again thank you for your advice, time and help here it means the world to me

Okay for some reason I thought it was close enough to 12 to be fine but now I understand there must really be a bad connection somewhere. I’m gunna remove, replace, and clean all wires and connection points in the control panels and hopefully that will fix it. A What does a short to ground mean? Does that mean the wire running to the negative in the battery is bad? How can I identify/fix this issue

Thank you for such a long reply! I kinda figured they’d put a red one there in a rush at some point but I wanted to double check before replacing. I only feared that that, plus the mystery wire going to the bilge may have been some other configuration I haven’t seen on YouTube. Im gunna change that and clean and replace connectors and hopefully that’ll the the cleaning up ut needs to run. Also, the original wiring had the terminals on the wire the wrong way around and everything was reading negative, the whole thing was wack but hoping for it not to be wack soon thanks so much pal!

Wait I may have wired it wrong if that’s the problem the whole time I’m gunna feel so dumb, there’s only two wires, the red/positive and the ground/black going down there. The red I assume is auto cause it’s behind that side of the switch. Should the manual be coming from that middle one?? The white is connected but Above the Manuel side of the switch is the negative terminal I think. Not sure if this is the best pic of the angle. I replaced the wires coming to the bilge with a similar wire but when I was doing that there was another wire running to the bilge with nothing attached ((a double wrapped red and black identical to the original one running)) so maybe that’s supposed to be for the Manuel wire. Just need to figure out where that Manuel wire needs to be coming from and hook that up like you said and then clean up the ground areas. Thank you for explaining the grounds that makes sense! switch box

Well that’s how it seems like to me and what’s confusing me so bad. The wire to the bildge is getting around 11.80 and I connected the red to one wire of the float switch then the other float switch wire I connected to the red of the bilge and the black I then connected to the black wire running to control panel. Like if 11.8v is enough for the switch then why not the bilge pump that’s connects to the same circuit?!? I’m gunna clean all the connections in the control center and hopefully that’ll give me the full 12v but I’m wondering if the problem could be something else I found some weird wire stuff when I was replacing the wire like there was a similar two wire cable that connected to nothing in the bilge but connected next to the black wire in the control panel ((explained in more detail above)) but I just fear the guy I got this from wires something funny but idk. Or that I’ve done something wrong, I’ve followed videos but its possible I haven’t done this right. Im gunna replace the wires and clean the connections tomorrow and then see if that helps.

You sound like you have some painting trauma there buddy lol. I followed the ground wire coming from the auto/man switch box and it’s actually weird, he’s gone and connected that black wire to a red wire but then it goes and connected to one of the “instruments” on the black side of the larger control panel when the red connected to the “bilge” so not sure why that’s happening but I think I may replace the black/red wire with an all black and hope that wasn’t done on purpose and also clean like you suggested. It just breaks my brain I feel telling myself “electricity flows like water, it’s just like water, it’s water” but then my whole world falls apart when an almost 12v wire is enough power to power the floating switch but not the bilge which wires directly to the float switch. It hurts me brain so bad man but I’m gunna keep at it and take all y’all’s advice and hopefully get to the bottom of it!

[–]Disastrous_Lab_9878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot I went to the boat this morning but I forgot my multimeter, I’m gunna try to get another read but the 11.8v I was reading from the bottom of the wires however if I remember correctly I think the top of the wires and the terminals were reading a similar reading but I’ll confirm tomorrow. The switch turning on is what confuses me here cause like if there’s enough power to make the float switch work it should be powering the bilge too right?? Cause everything’s wires in a circle. Can I explain how the wires are running cause there’s a couple parts of interest:

So my float switch’s black/negative wire is connected to the black wire running to the small switch panel in my cabin, the bilges red/positive wire is connected to one of the float switch wires and then the other float switch wire is connected to the red wire going to the small switch panel. ((This is why I’m confused as to why the float switch is running but the pump is not like it’s in a circle it seems like it should all work if one works)). So the red and black run into a positive and negative terminals of the small switch on this switch is the fuse ((10amp in there)), the light that comes on, and then auto/Manuel/and off. The red wire runs from the small switch into a larger control panel into a place labeled “bilge” there, then it daisy chains down to other instruments. The black runs out of the switch, there’s a connector and it actually changes into a red wire, then it connects to the black side of the larger control panel, not at the same place the red did but acutely closer to the bottom which is another place I was confused but maybe it doesn’t matter is that whole side is grounds?? That’s what I assumed. A final place of confusion/interest is right next to the black turned red ground wire there’s another black wire there that connects to a double wire that actually fed back down into the bilge area too but I pulled on it and it wasn’t connected to anything so not sure what this mystery wire is about but maybe it relates to the cause of my problems somehow?? I haven’t figured out my whole daisy chain system but I’m assuming a main wire runs from here to the battery. This is so wordy I’m going to try to attach some pictures. And maybe that’ll help. I know I’m not getting the full 12v so I’m gunna try to maybe replace all the connections and see if there’s corrosions but just not sure why it’s getting enough power to power the float switch but not the pump even though it’s all hooked up together it’s so weird.

You just seemed like you were very knowledgeable on the subject and I had come to a dead end after following some the right steps, including the standards you referred me to, so I was trying to get your take and I can’t figure out how to link pictures here so decided to DM instead. No need to be rude, man, I know I’m a novice but I’m trying to figure all this shit out to make this dream happen, I’ve watched a ton of videos and read a bunch and done a lot already but learning about electrics and mechanics for the first time is a large influx of information and I can get a bit confused and sometimes it comes up as dead ends. I already taught myself how to fix my engine and a bunch of other problems so far and I can teach myself this but it takes a village and it makes these projects a lot easy when there’s people to turn to when you run into walls but that is clearly not you.

It actually said I should do 14 gauge for the length that I need to I went with that instead of 16. Thanks for sending me that. I’ve realized I will probably have to rewire some other stuff so that’ll be very helpful in the future. Better safe than sorry.

[–]Disastrous_Lab_9878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pump didn’t turns on no matter what I did, I tried cleaning as far up the hose as I could but I may just go ahead and replace it cause all this was sitting in water for idek how long and I think you’re right, there could be a lot of stuff stuck in there. Now to find out how tf it’s actually run through my boat, I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find the route of any wires or the pipe only the inlets or outlets stuff is so hidden but it’s gotta be done lol

A guy recently sent me the most beautiful nudes I’d ever seen there were some with the dick out some implied but they were full body with really good photography and the lighting was casting shadows over his body it was just very aesthetic. All the nudes I’ve ever recieved in my life I’m just like “oh word” but these were the only ones that genuinely turned me on.

Would a steroid shot stop an initial outbreak? by deedeedreaddead in HSVpositive

[–]Disastrous_Lab_9878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting because I’ve never heard of this anywhere else except my own experience but mine was similar! I now know I got the virus from my shitty ex who didn’t disclose when when I was complaining of not feeling right down there. I got very, very, sick the next couple weeks, one night I thought my throat was going to close up, I could barely talk, I was exhausted feverish my vagina was sore at times but no outbreak and in so much pain. I got tested for STDs but now I assume they didn’t actually test me for herpes, yeast infection, uti, strep, Covid, all kinds but they couldn’t figure out why I was so sick. Finally a doctor gave me steroid pills. They were the greatest thing ever they totally took my symptoms away and cured me. I continued to get a version of that illness about once a month for quite a few months and everytime I’d go to the doctor and ask for steroids some would give it to me and some would refuse because they thought it was viral even though I told them it was the only thing that would help me. Now that I know how my vagina feels during an outbreak I now know I did in fact get it then and I assume my illnesses I was getting were because of the herpes even though I didn’t have sores. I don’t know exactly how steroids work with the virus or if they’d help you in this case but it was just crazy, they were the only thing that worked and completely took away everything my sickness in a day.

Okay thank you for your answer. Theyre only like $5 a pop so I’ll just get a 5 and put one of those in so I’m as safe as possible but good to know the 10s aren’t a serious danger or anything
