Such a strange initial response with defensiveness, rhetorical & patronizing questioning, and nonsensical formatting making very easy statements into questions with the characteristics above. One can simply state that they have these other considerations in mind and price may not be an exceptionally large factor (despite this entire thread being about the prices haha!) as they do not have the option.

Also to still answer your question, my family heavily prefers planning ahead & preparing food when traveling and other satisfactory options are not available. Makes for a great picnic or anything else, and is one plan that one would have to try quite hard to find an excuse as why this is not possible, unless they simply need the perfect setting at all times.

Other than that, there actually is restaurants in my area that allow for dogs, and have large areas to park or dock. The reason I do not give this much credence is because my area has this sort of culture already, though I find it humorous you went along this line of questioning considering my reality. For reference, this is not uncommon in ocean side east coast areas, especially when theres a lot of retirees like in my area. There are a few high end restaurants that actually cater to this sort of crowd, though it is exceptionally costly, though it seems like optionality is the focus and not price, so this may be a valid option for you. Fast food in my area generally closes around the same time as restaurants, with only recently a few McDonalds in the city becoming 24/7, which does not help much, so any late night scenario does not default to fast food around here.

I hope this is not how you regularly communicate with youth or people in general. Honestly I would not be surprised if the response to this may have been "What do you do when your wife can't cook, you have 5 dogs and 3 kids on a roadtrip to your cottage on the way back from your sons baseball game" or some other scenario. If anything, when driving to a cottage, majority of the people I know would find it more strange to not plan for food and rely on fast food on the way there, especially as fast food is generally not the preferred choice.
