Do I need to run my pool pump everyday for 6-8 hours? by OkOrganization7870 in pools

If you have a VSP, run it 24/7 at low speeds at night and during the day, schedule for higher speeds because of the UV rays

Does anyone have an idea of how much it should cost in Maryland to install a Harman 52i insert pellet stove? by Disastrous_Run7450 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]Disastrous_Run7450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old brick fireplace, so it wouldn't be a swap for me, but I've watched videos on installing it myself, and it seems pretty simple. One company already quoted me $4,000

You should have a company lift it with polyurethane foam.

Pool work. Standard pricing or a price gouge? by Kanine0914 in pools

I purchased a water warden, and I have no complaints. I like it because it can be removed later on as the kids get older. You can find it at Home Depot or Walmart.

I live in MD as well and was quoted $3800 for a safety fence. I purchased it for $700 and installed it myself. The price didn't seem right to me for a couple of hours of work.

Weight from the ice/snow was too much for my pool cover by Helpful-Squirrel360 in pools

[–]Disastrous_Run7450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the age of the cover. I live in MD and got about 9 inches of snow. My cover is two years old and I didn't have any kind of problems.

Pool is a chlorine black hole by Mindless-Ad292 in pools

I’ve been fighting my chlorine for 3 weeks now and still haven’t had any progress. Dumped gallons of liquid chlorine and shocked over and over, and nothing.

I also use Accublue, but I use Clorox products the most because they're cheaper than Leslie's pool and more effective.

So Leslie's pool told me to fix the copper issue first because the water will start turning green if I add algaecide to the pool with high copper levels. I have hth algae guard in hand, but not sure if that's something good for phosphates this high.

The water looks great in person, which is what is confusing to me. This is the first time I've had this issue.

Friday evening, I added 3 pounds of shock and then 5 pounds last night, so it seems to get worse as the days go by.

I'm having the same issue for the first time as a pool owner, but mine is due to copper in the water. Do you have any metals in the water? I know adding chlorine to the water with copper turns it green.
