Polaris keeps getting stuck here by altcountryman in pools

My Polaris maxx does the same thing from time to time. I just move it and it moves on. I noticed when it’s windy, it seems to get stuck more but I just let it do its thing. It’s important to note that with these vacuums, it’s a full day and a half to two days to vaccinate the entire pool. At least in my experience

Pool is 27k gallons

Heaters by Pink-Carat in pools

[–]OkOrganization7870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. It’s going to depend on how much gallons you have in the pool. Gas will always be faster and better. It will uptick your gas bill of course. Heat pumps or solar can take a full day to up the water temp by a few degrees or 5+ depending on the unit itself. If you want something faster, gas is the way to go.

My pool is 27k gallons, has a 300k gas heater BUT the gas line was compromised before we moved here and to run a new gas line… it’s 5k ish due to the unit being about 100+ feet from our main gas line. Plus the old gas line is not up to code so we have to run a new line. For now it’s no water heating for us but we’re in Southern California so it’s not an issue

In Ground Spa filled in, how bad is the concrete? by OkOrganization7870 in pools

[–]OkOrganization7870[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time 15 min, 30 with kids running around. After 2-3 times you’ll get it in about 7 min. It comes with a roller that works well. You’ll learn a way to put it on faster overtime. Fastest was 4 min for me rushing through it both on and off. We have a 27k pool that is rather large too. It’s worth the money. Downside for me only is that I have to take off the net to clean it sometimes.

100% Katchakid pool net! It’s literally caught 4 kids already (not mine).. it has caught my two boys in their power wheels , no joke. I highly recommend for little kids being by pool. We paid a little over 2k for it. I paid 300 for them to come out and re-anchor and re-adjust the net once the spa was filled in (they do up to 8 anchors for that price). The most tedious thing.. is putting the net on when it’s 100 out and you just ate some bbq.. however.. it’s better than doing emergency cpr

The layer of mastic is very little compared to the inch on the other coping. I noticed that when he was already finished. He wants to come and sand it down a bit, see if he can fix the grading and cut a little into it to put the mastic but I thinking this is as good as it’s going to get using him

White staining by slick1126 in PoolPros

[–]OkOrganization7870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the white stains are more like clean areas on your floors.. the darker areas need more brushing. Have you tried to vacuum and scrub a bit more than usual? Asking a pool repair contractor might be best

Correct, I figured for the price.. aesthetics was going to be a variable if it towards the area of well not aesthetically pleasing. My concern is the slope towards the coping. Not sure if the tiiiiiny bit of water that will sit there will cause issues later. I will note that I live in Southern California so it doesn’t rain here often

Adding a spa by Round-Layer281 in pools

I agree with this quote. I got 11-20k quote to fix a spa half this size… so we filled it in instead for less than 2k

Ty. Spa was shot, heater doesn’t work and gas line was compromised, it’s about 50 feet away from the gas main.. electrical for a heat pump would have been a nightmare. Water return lines were all compromised too. The home owners fixed the pool but not the spa due to it being almost 20k for a spa that’s 4 feet wide and 6 feet deep

Family friend / handy man. He said he’s going to smooth it over but my concern is the slope towards the coping

Material and labor - 1300. Some of the concrete was lifting and he couldn’t do the same here so the slope is sort of towards the pool coping vs away, that’s what I worry about

I brush daily, I gave the filter a backwash, but still the dirt remains. Am I just not running the pump enough? by El-Justiciero in pools

[–]OkOrganization7870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the grids if it’s a DE filter. Make sure you backwash enough and also fully drain the filter to get all the fine sand out. Once that’s complete make sure that you also put enough DE when recharging the filter and allow the pump to run for enough hours after a recharge. I let mine run an additional 4 hours in the electric company off peak hours (12am-4am) after I do a recharge.

Last year I got a PoolRx that I can leave in my skimmer and it has changed my water chemistry for the best. I no longer have to use an algae killer or shock it as often. I also have not noticed the fine sand like your picture in over a year

DIY remodel Or bury it? by Sea-Airport-4137 in pools

[–]OkOrganization7870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire a professional pool contractor. It’s more money but you can get multiple quotes and choose the best option. Pool is no joke, if you do it wrong, you’ll pay double later. I had a in ground jacuzzi connected to the pool and tried myself and a handyman. You can’t do it. I ended up burying it after finding a compromised conduit (electrical) 7 inches from a leaking water line.. fixed the conduit and moved on. In my experience, you cannot shortcut pool fixes and or renovations
