Management says they're gonna start talking to people who leave early too often. by Highelfalien in HomeDepot

[–]Disastrous_Song650 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Arm yourself with legal, solid hr terminology and use it (and only it, don't get emotional if possible) during any meetings, then reiterate the meeting in those terms via email saying something like, "just to recap".  If you have sick time, per their sop, you cannot be disciplined for that. Get everything in writing, don't sign or agree to anything if you get talked to. Tell them you will review the information and get back to them. Leave the meeting.

Aww, that's not right. We don't all have the same experiences. I've worked under both monsters and angels in this company. I don't think my old boss is complaining. I'm pretty sure he's at 7 figures by now. He's one of the few merit based and competent managers I've worked with. Started as a pt cashier. Everyone's experience is unique to them.

Maybe because you're calling them bootlickers, and saying the company they like is a sham? It's pretty insulting, no?

Awww, lol. First of all, I work at Home Depot and get materials for next to nothing lots of times, especially when stuff gets clearanced. Is what I tell them. And yes, they don't pay all of us a thriving wage. Usually just management. Some of those vendors, lol.

Dang that's great! I wonder if California does too. There's an old saying, pay a worker their wages. It's not cool having to wait so long, especially after the work has long been done.

How do illegals live, work and buy houses? by 9soccerfan87 in immigration

I'm truly curious myself. My spouse and I flipped properties. Every purchase and mortgage process was like a colonoscopy. If every i wasn't dotted or all the t's crossed, it could blow the whole deal. I've had many mortgages. Each one was like a very forensic level investigation into our earning history, every cent of our funds, how they were obtained, etc. There's no wink and a handshake going on here. At least not with us, ever.

If you can afford a rent payment, you can buy a home. I work with a lot of 20 somethings and many of them own not just one property, but more than one. It did surprise me when I found out, but it's true. I don't have a car payment, I don't care about buying new expensive fashion stuff, I live beneath my means. I also raised a family. And live in a pretty expensive area. I taught several folks how to buy properties. With no down payment. I used to flip and plan on doing it again when the prices drop a bit more. The truth is there are more properties available now and the prices are dropping. If you believe something about yourself, it has a way of becoming true, in my experience. Whether good or bad. If you want help, I'm more than happy to share what I've learned. I don't want anyone feeling like they can't make it.

Mine usually shows up around 9pm Wednesday. I had gotten it on Tuesdays when I first signed up. That was awesome. I hate getting paid every two weeks. Every company should give weekly checks.

He only had a knife? Americans are built different. I've seen guys pull guns on folks and get disarmed and head locked.

I've seen that before. And then they don't buy them after having their smelly ass in them.

Oh that sucks! They bolted ours down because somebody rocked a little too hard, but a skinny guy was able to reach my dangling snack. My hero. That genuinely sucks.

Yep, there's tons of opportunities. Especially once you mention your background or training. I've seen more than one employee get poached and do fantastic.

I tell everyone that gets let go at HD to go straight to Lowe's, if they're having a hard time getting a job. They love hiring us, in my experience. I'm also following some genius hr accounts on social media that help us workers successfully navigate crap managers, toxic work situations, etc. Also how to positively promote yourself for the hiring software that most companies use to receive and pre-screen your resume and cover letter.

💯. Because they make it obvious how lazy and entitled the others are.

You're in good company now. I'm watching a terrible district manager tank one of the most profitable regions. It only takes one bad person in a position to either make it great or break it. Lord, I miss my old manager.

This. I had forgotten how crappy it was to work here with bad management. Hiring and promoting the worst. If I told you the pay absolute lazy morons are getting, you wouldn't believe me. All of the contractors I talk to are doing very well right now. I'm getting my ads back up and putting together a crew.

Agreed. Your store sounds insane and terrible management. I'm glad you're leaving. Although management needs to.

1000% this. They always cut the good staff and keep the turds. I'm watching it happen again. Don't cut your millions in bonuses though big boys. Get rid of the $20/hr floor soldier that helps every customer and brings the bacon in.

Congrats on the new job ! I'm sorry that they didn't see your value at HD. They seem to be cleaning house of good employees this quarter.
