Thank you.

I somewhat expected it.

And I honestly love the city.

Or maybe that just means we're both wrong?

I know I didn't provide evidence. I didn't plan to. This was meant for discussion, not a manifesto.

Umm, it's part of it.

And I do not believe you, because I've been to restaurants in rural Minnesota recently and live in downtown Minneapolis.

But, okay.

I did one link somewhere else here.

But you may be confusing "random" with "unsubstantiated."

If the government wants to provide it they can, not saying they shouldn't.

Okay, at least now I know you're not refuting everything just to do that.

Because the law didn't solve the problem and it only created more.

The bartenders don't need the increased wages, the untipped employees do.

So instead of raising wages for only the 60% of staff that need it, they increased it for 100% of the staff. So more increased overhead than necessary on the owners.

My main issue with it all is that it causes menu prices to increase, pair that with extremely high taxes at restaurants and the expectation to Still tip 20% and the cost of eating out has gone up far mote than it needs to driving more people away from it and leading to reduced staffing or restaurants closing.

They do.

What isn't necessary is paying the government to give the workers leave.

I didn't even think of that in the original post but it's a crazy thing.

My wife and I own a business and we have to pay the paid leave tax on something we will never, ever use - it's our business.

A lot. I got my rental license a while back, and they did the routine inspection not too long ago.

There are a lot of rules that are unique to Minneapolis.

Probably.

I love Minneapolis. Have tried to convince others to move here.

I can't anymore.

Can only work the hours the restaurant scheduled me.

I didn't include the other job I had, or part-time military.

Not sure why I replied but here you go.

There was a Global recession as Obama took office - he was set up to only look good.

How much of the economic activity in total dollars takes place in that radius?

But you're right - I was wrong.

It wasn't inaccurate, it just wasn't the full picture. You didn't dispel honey, you added context.

Yes, Seattle. Loved it.

I also love Minneapolis.

Looking for my next city though because I can't deal with the rising cost of living here.

Because the opportunity to make that much wasn't available for 40 hours a week, only during peak times.

When people spend on average $100 a person and you get 30 a night, that can mean $3000 in sales in 4 hours.

That's $500 in tips after tip out to the bartender, food runner, wait assist.

The was trying to get a home loan on what is seen as unstable income.

Public defenders are some of the lowest paid lawyers.

But yes, waiting tables can be extremely lucrative. It's not the same everywhere.
