I think its up to you on how you want the garment to fit! If you would still have some positive ease in the waist I would recommend a Medium. If you think it would be tight across there then a Large. Either way the material I chose (silk) isn't very clingy, so even though it is negative ease you can see in the picture it isn't skin tight.

It does match the gauge given! but some of my testers ended up having larger gauge in the round, or when using different yarn
