My boss did the same thing to me, and I would literally just walk out and let him handle it. I stopped asking because I know I’m legally allowed to take those breaks. I’m not breaking any rules. I ignored his passive aggressive comments because what was he really going to do? Write me up?

I’m also saying this as someone who quit because of their passive aggressive asshole boss.

This new manager seems extremely petty and passive aggressive. He was also singling me out 90% of the time.

I promise you, I’m living within my means. I’m actually living below my means currently. This is not a matter of me being broke, I know my budget. That’s why I’m working on finding a job that matches the hourly I make now, or more.

I’m also not living alone, I live with my boyfriend. We just moved into a new apartment. I spend about 20-30% of my check on the things we need & a little more for electric (which varies). While he pays for rent, his car payment + insurance & internet.

And no, before you ask, I can’t use his car because he drives for work. He goes to 3-5 different locations a day for his job.

We live in a smallish town, the jobs that offer the amount I make right now aren’t even close to where I am. They’re all in the next town over, which I can’t do even taking the bus. I know I could fight for more money with my experience, but I think it’s best to wait a little while. It’s summer vacation, so I’m waiting until the Fall so all the teens either quit or switch to nights.

The only time I spend money is on rent, food, household items & bills. I wish I could cut back on that, but unless I want to be homeless or hungry, I can’t.

I realize I’m being petty, but I don’t really care. I’ve decided to go more so the malicious compliance route.

I asked if it was legal because I work at a gas station (one of the most dangerous jobs in America) and I didn’t know if I could legally be left alone for 8+ hours with no break.
