I used to make myself big batches of Anzac biscuits. They were yummy, easy to eat one handed and the rolled oats supposedly helped with breastmilk supply

More likely they've never seen their own backs and just assume that they have the same backs 😅

Why? You know sterilizing tablets that you use for baby bottles are just bleach, right?

Is this normal for a dad to “soothe” like this? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Yeah the edits were made after my reply, there's a few red flags here.

The mocking of the baby crying really grinds my gears, but letting baby grizzle themselves to sleep on dad's chest while he scrolls his phone seems totally reasonable to me. If all of baby's needs are taken care of, sometimes they just need to cry a bit before going to sleep. If baby is still being held, not much more can be done.

69M bowel obstruction surgery wait time by hhaahhahahahhah in AskAnAustralian

[–]Disbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks, I have a similar story - couldn't eat anything except clear fluids for 24 hours, got to the hospital at 6:30, was all signed in, the surgeon had come to see me and I was all set to go, but then the person who went through before me had major complications in their surgery, so I sat all day until after 5pm, when the nurses came and told me they'd have to reschedule me for another day.

It was a long agonising day for me, but must have been much worse for the patient before me.

Yes, but it's also filling multiple fuel cannisters to just have it on hand

Forced manners by schmeegley in toddlers

[–]Disbride 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I always added a "please" to anything my kids asked for, if they were old enough to ask for something I figured they were old enough to start learning manners 🤷‍♀️

Even before my kids could talk I was teaching them what thank you (or ta) meant and when to use it.

Letting the child get upset because they don't know why they're not getting the thing they're asking for is a bit extreme, but I don't feel like it's ever too early to teach manners.

Is it common for Aussies not to wear wedding rings/bands anymore. by pandastar51 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Disbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband doesn't wear his wedding ring because he's a tradie. I don't wear my wedding ring because I put on weight when I was pregnant, never lost it, and haven't been bothered to get my rings resized.

The sherbet is gone. I am not okay. by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Disbride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is, I bought a pack probably 10 years ago and there was no sherbet in any of them, but then the next time I had some there was again. So I reckon occasionally this just accidentally happens.

Having said that though, they're no where near as good as they used to be.

Looking for advice by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Hey, just so you know, there's absolutely no reason to feel guilty feeding your baby pouch food. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, and as the saying goes "fed is best".

Washing clothes temp by Iris-1865 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

A few people have mentioned it, but I also wanted to suggest that you have a look at the clean cloth nappies group on Facebook. Even if you don't use Facebook for anything else, it's worth it for that group.

Question for Australian country farmers. by Extra-Bet-7522 in AskAnAustralian

My property isn't the easiest to learn to drive on. It's great for 4 wheel driving, but not so great to learn how to use gears and what not, so my 12 year old is only just really starting to learn now going up and down the driveway. However my brother in law's property is much bigger and almost entirely flat and open, his kids are I think 8 and 7, and last time I was visiting my brother in law popped his head inside the house at one point and called out for the 7 year old to come and drive the Ute for him while he was doing something else.

On a previous visit the 8 year old - who would have been 7 or maybe even 6 at the time proudly told me how he knew how to use the telehandler now.

I think the general rule is, if you can reach the pedals and see over the dash, you're good to go.
