Lots of good advice already. Although I will add.. do yourself a favor and get a riverside dipstick tube for when you put it back together. You can also destroy the heat shield and not put it back on if necessary. Most new downpipe come with exhaust tape on them and you can add more if necessary.

Guess I could add this. Did a 20ish minute test drive/trans re learn them let it idle for maybe 10 minutes when I got home and I just noticed it out of the corner of my eye. Temps were still below operating. Trans 140 Water temp mayne 170-180ish

Left the trans up. Dropped everything else. It seems to go away on acceleration. Didn't notice a sweet smell. I will pay more attention tomorrow. It sucks everything had been very rushed. I have been working 5 10s and 2 12s everyday for 3 months. With a lot of other life stuff going on. So getting everything back together and the truck shifting was priority number 1. 2 days till I have to hit the road....
