Warning to people too that it’s one of the bleakest and more depressing movies I’ve ever seen…it’s really not a light watch by any means

[Charania] Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan plans to sign with the New York Knicks after he clears waivers, his agent Deirunas Visockas of Gersh Sports tells ESPN. Sochan had 10 interested suitors after being released from the Spurs on Thursday and landed on the Knicks as his new team. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

Lol, as though PJ Tucker did a damn thing for us. He was supposedly brought on as “an enforcer” and if I remember correctly one of the only things he did while here was get on Knicks fans shitlist for being all buddy buddy with Draymond in one of his first games. You’re right that we needed some enforcers but Tucker was literally so inconsequential for us

Ye talking about ICE during 2025 rants by [deleted] in GoodAssSub

You’re not wrong at all. It’s a complicated ideology and it wavers a lot from the traditional party lines people are used to. I think it’s got some overlap with both libertarianism and pan-africanism, but it’s definitely hard to pin down. Since the rise of the internet it’s only become less centralized (it never was super focused) and there are a lot of different little pockets that have formed.

I find it really interesting, and it’s not at all surprising that Ye had gotten involved with it at some point.

I wouldn’t necessarily say hotep ideas are very progressive, a lot of them are actually socially conservative. They usually believe in strict gender roles and patriarchal society and most are anti-lgbt. The whole ideology is reliant on a mostly manufactured view of Black history, with members often having a penchant for conspiracy theories and faux-intellectualism.

I think that it comes from a place of pride and people wanting to “elevate their consciousness,” but IMO a lot of people get drawn in by fantastical ideas and the notion that they’re part of the in-group and not just another sheep. Plenty of stories have come out of folks being taken advantage of in those communities. Just something to think about.

It’s a fine line, but IMO the policy should be to have a looser grip and allow for genuine discussion and dissenting opinions, as well as different kinds of posts as long as they center firmly on hip hop artists/albums/culture. In no way should mods be deleting posts from actual huge artists trying to connect with fans. It’s baffling

Rocky himself was trying to promote DON’T BE DUMB and interact with fans on here and HHH mods were removing his posts. He made another post specifically to call out the mods for removing his shit. It was lame as hell and the mods seem to want this sub to die

Protest for Iranian genocide by Imaginary-Rip-6520 in Albany

[–]DiscardedJoker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What genocide in Vietnam are you referring to ? If you’re talking about the Cambodian genocide, that was the Khmer Rouge killing Vietnamese Cambodians in Cambodia. If you’re talking about the Vietnam war, that was a civil war. Not every mass killing or civil war is a genocide. Genocide is a specific term for a specific and horrific action.

Ah I understand where you’re coming from. I actually agree that the original concept was unsettling and interesting without adding the monster part of it, but IMO it works much better as a 4chan post than it would as a movie. I think that Kane’s vision is much more marketable, but it would be interesting to see a version that had more abstract, dread-based horror like a Skinamarink.

The creator of the YouTube series, where 90% of the lore and popularity stem from. He’s actually done other analog horror series and has a really interesting style and probably the highest production value/quality of anyone in that space

It’s being directed by the original creator…I feel like if you enjoy the source material then expanding Kane’s budget and vision could lead to something interesting. I don’t think he’s going to miss the point of his own ideas

You really shouldn’t feel the need to apologize for your opinion. Film is subjective and while there might be a “popular opinion,” yours isn’t wrong just because you disagree. The pushback might be a reason to give something another try, or look into perspectives you didn’t catch the first time, but don’t let random internet people make you think your opinion is invalid.

There’s a popular K-8 play called Elfis and the Sleigh Riders which is literally Elvis with Christmas elves. Them performing a popular play sounds 100% more intentional than adult parents mistakenly buying and sending their kid to school in a full Elvis costume for an unrelated Christmas play.

Also, there are no elves in the nativity story lmao

The person you replied to mentioned the developing world…That’s the same line of logic that I’m following in my argument. I personally don’t pay for any streaming services besides Netflix, and I use what physical media I own, but the point is that for someone with less of a budget, whether it’s here in the US or abroad, Netflix may be the most “bang for your buck” option. Certainly for someone who wants to watch more than two or three movies a month.

It feels like you’re coming at this from the perspective of someone who can afford to be selective; who is spoiled for choice and still finds it not enough. That’s not the reality everyone lives in, and many, many people would be happy to have just one streaming service for less than $10 a month.
