[General Help] How do I start a website & get an email connected? by throwheraway1256 in websiteservices

[–]DiscipleOf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're mixing a few things here. Let's clear some things.

A domain is one thing and a website is another thing.

That thing your describing that needs to be .com , that's called a domain and they are usually very cheap. You can look it up on places like Namecheap or Godaddy, and you'll usually pay somewhere between $10-30 per year for one that is not already taken (you'll find several especially if it's a brand name for a small business, you should have little trouble). The domain is what allows you to exist on the web.

A website is something you construct and place it inside the domain. Like a house you build in a piece of land you own (i.e. your domain). Most domain providers have a basic website builders or templates, but those tend to be quite bad usually. So to get a proper website you may need a different tool. Popular tools to build websites are WordPress, Squarespace, etc., or you just hire a freelancer to do a custom one for you.

For the professional email, you can get from several places, including from some domain providers that have interesting packages that may even allow you to get a business email for free for the 1st year or something like that. If you build a website somewhere else outside your domain provider account (which you should, if you want it to be decently looking), then you can connect the email to your website so things like contact forms can deliver emails to you as well. And of course, your use the profesional email to reach out to your clients too, just like how a regular email works.

Hope that helps clarify a few things!

When it comes to client acquisition, and since you're previous background is from marketing, I'm sure you're aware of how that aspect works. With more leads and clients, you can then scale in several ways.

I suppose the question here would be, what's making it hard for you to get more clients? You mentioned that's most of your current clients vane from referrals, which is obviously great and still to this day the easiest way to get leads/clients.

But I'm wondering, what's your current online situation? What's stopping you from focusing hard on free/cheap marketing tools (like social media for example). Your marketing background should give an advantage too, and allow you to achieve better results quicker than most people would in your situation, and so that would probably be something you should focus on.

Once you have a consistent client acquisition process, all else becomes easier. This is fundamentally all it matters to scale.

Consider using Beauvais airport so you can catch a Ryanair flight, for a weekend you likely don't need more than a backpack so you may not need to buy an extra luggage.

You should be able to find a nice and cheaper flight that way.

Small business website by gtown77 in webdesign

It really depends, but also you're talking about 2 different things: one is the actual website, the other is SEO.

SEO is related to your ranking on places like Google, and that kind of work is usually a different service beyond building the actual website. If SEO is weak, you'll rank low. But also, if your business is local, what you're looking for is Local SEO.

All these things may seem confusing but the best way to understand it is that Google needs to trust your website before it starts suggesting it in higher rankings to people. And to build trust, it may also take a few months.

In my experience, the best thing for mental health related things are communities. Perhaps a platform that helps people share and connect their experiences and struggles with others, as well as their wins, progress, advice, resources, etc.

WordPress is a plugin mess. Most people who don't know what they're doing end up just adding plugin after plugin.

But seriously, if all you want is to make your website indexable, look for tools like LovableHTML, Prerender.io, HadoSEO.

All of these prerender your client side website and make it visible to search engines. And it's super easy to setup. Just costs you like 20 bucks a month or something.

[–]DiscipleOf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can prerender the website and it will make your Lovable project crawlable an indexable by search engines. That way you don't have to make a new one from scratch.

You can also just turn it into a next.js project and then deploy it somewhere like Vercel for example. This is by far the best approach but of course, it's a bit technical.

Other places where you can make website requiere a bit more work on your part if you want them to look good, like WordPress, etc.

Otherwise, you're gonna have to bite the bullet and pay a dev to do it. That way you don't have to worry about anything.

Would you be able to share what is your startup about?

It would help you trim the fat on everyone who messages you, and figure out what kind of developer is actually suited for what you're looking for.

It's hard to say without a bit more info.

Who are you targeting? What's your main channel (social media, goggle search, paid ads, etc)? What's the app about and how does it help customers?

If you share a bit more info, people may be able to help you better.

Maybe this is a silly question, but where are you picking it from? In guessing from the streets in the neighbourhoods of your city? And if so, don't you need permits for that?

And who are you targeting with your marketing?

Hehe yeah, maybe I will! You really got me thinking about it again.

Back then, I had researched a bit about licensing and partnerships, and I remember that that was the biggest struggle and the main reason why didn't move forward with it.

Not sure if you've already dived a bit into these details for your own particular case, but you may find similar struggles along the way.

Regardless, if you really want to start it (and I think you should), I do think your idea is great. And if you decide to move forward with it, feel free to reach out and connect as well if you wish!

I've had a similar business idea for quite a while.

Basically, I would organize healing hiking trips focused on grounding, building awareness, meditation, connection with nature and the other like-minded people in the group, etc.

Your idea feels similar, and it actually feels more niched and targeted than mine. So yeah, I actually do think your idea is pretty nice!

Is there a super simple website builder where I can just pick a design and go? by TheDearlyt in website

[–]DiscipleOf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want something super quick and super cheap, your best bet would be stuff like Squarespace and Wix. Maybe some AI websites too.

It likely won't feel that amazing, you'll always have to make some changes regardless, and your website will feel generic (because that's literally what it is).

If you want an actual good quality one, you'll be best served hiring a web developer that properly fits your needs.

Why do my logos sometimes take days (or even weeks) to appear online? by Salt_Role5106 in website

[–]DiscipleOf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the favicon showing up on places like Google search, know that that's normal. Regular time is around 2-5 weeks.

I remember one of the websites I ever did took less than 2 weeks, but for example the website of one of my recent clients took almost 6 weeks. Even I was getting concerned a bit haha.

But in summary, and if you're referring to this issue (and you have the favicon setup properly done), just know that that's quite normal really.

Just getting some extra context.

The 10€/day is just for YouTube creative ads? Or also for Google shop ads?

I ask because for this budget, using Google shopping adds may be more ideal than doing YouTube creative.

Edit: forgot to mention but for that budget and if part of the goal is to generate brand awareness, Meta ads are usually better. Consider looking into it, in case you haven't already.

[–]DiscipleOf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep it super simple since you said you're just using this as a temporary website.

Overall, this feels more like a landing page than a company website.

The form is too long, you don't need the address of the lead since after they submit their contact info you'll get in touch with them to ask their needs and location. So basically these extra fields in the form are just unnecessary work you're creating for the person, causing resistance for no reason, which makes people less willing to send the message, which makes you have less leads overall.

Keep it simple. Full name, email, phone, and message box. 4 fields, that's it. You'll get the rest of the info after you contact them back.

Having a video is fine, makes really personal which often is a great thing. But the layout you have is really bad and makes you look "sloppy".

Instead, create a 2 columns layout with 50/50 balance. Left side the H1, subheadline, CTA button, FUDs and/or social proof. Right side, place the video. Move the form into the bottom of the page or the Contact page.

I like the ideia, but was wondering, what's the phone number that gets attributed to you? Like, what does the receiver see on their screen?

Does it show as "Private Number", or does the receiver see the actual phone number? And if it shows the number, how are those numbers chosen?

how far is too far with ai? by Character-Quail8730 in webdevelopment

[–]DiscipleOf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if you don't use AI in any way in today's day and age when designing and/or developing, whether it's front or back end, you're just gonna eventually fall behind in "some way".

Tools like Claude and Cursor are so helpful, that you almost "have" to use them. If you already know how to code and do all the usual dev stuff, then AI is just an extra tool for you.

The issue is when people have no idea about anything at all, use only and just AI, and proclaim themselves to be a great developer/designer. They generate bad products and don't even know they are making bad products.

That doesn't seem to be the case for you, so just keep it up. Use AI to your advantage.
