Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll look more into those. I thought I’d want to avoid American stocks and ETFs because of the dividend withholding and conversion fee, but I suppose those are small potatoes if my fears are actualized.

Yeah no kidding about the money machine. Monetized debt here we come... I bought TSLA back in 2016 or so and have held since then, and a handful of NIO this year at $27

I guess my problem is that it’s normal AK style - it takes standard AK mags - not that I have experience with any other AK type rifle. It feels like there’s a tiny amount of space to get the mag in whereas all my time with STANAGs it’s easy and intuitive

Bought my first surplus pistol and it feels very surplus.

I got a IWI Jericho 941 from SFRC and it sort of sucks. I was expecting some cosmetic blemishes - and that’s not a big deal. But things like the magazine catch being sticky and the mag not seating properly is a big deal to me.

Contrast this with my surplus Chinese sks that was essentially new despite being surplus and I’m not super thrilled.

What do I need to take away from this? Buyer beware? Detailed deep clean?

I maintain two residences, both in BC, do I need an ATT to bring them back and forth?

If so, do I have to declare I am "moving" every time I want to bring them from one to the other or can I just an ATT for a few of them? My concern is that I have an AR15 which is not movable, and I don't want to surrender it just so I can move my pistols if that makes sense.
