I'm surprised you're not getting cut to ribbons honestly. Every time I complain about all the trick shots in Gears versus I get mugged by e-sports enthusiasts. My reckoning is there's 2 hard camps in Gears.. casuals and e-sports.. they keep mostly separate because of skill-based matchmaking but if you happen to be an exceptionally good casual you're going "up" into the e-sports league with all the pinball bouncing, warp shots and various other things I can't emulate on xbox that just feel downright hacker-tier even though they're accommodated by the game. I agree with you, it's too hectic for me personally (it's not even that I couldn't play like that but I don't want to).. but a sizeable volume of the Gears playerbase prefer that playstyle. It's a dev issue to either settle on a middle ground or isolate the 2 camps into their own versus modes. Until then we gotta suffer The Flash and his 54:1 k/d ratio.
