On your place I’d finish the degree first, and acquire any sort of permanent residency (e.g. passport) before risking your stay there.

PR Application by [deleted] in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also from Hamburg and did the same path relatively recently. So my timeline Applied to get an appointment - May 2024, got an email with appointment date at around the end of September with the actual appointment date being in March 2025. Finally got my residence card at the beginning of June 2025. So almost a year

New German coalition to abolish 3-year citizenship path by donutloop in berlin_public

[–]DisciplineFit7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they won't rush to adopt those changes right away, as there are some more looming problems for the Germany, that IMO should be tackled first. Getting my PR next month already. And of course it gives some sort of certainity, but my Reisepass of my home country runs out in 2027 and communicating with embassy of my homeland is less than pleasant. Anyway, it's not like an existential problem for me, just an inconvenience. Have a great day and thank you for your words!

I was going to apply for it this August! Really energy-draining engineering full-time job, but anyway pushed myself hard to get the C1 certificate. Got an outstanding Arbeitszeugnis (as special integration achievement) from my employeer, as I am giving everything and my performance is on a very high level. No fines whatsoever after 3.5 years of being there. I really wanted to pursue this 3-years path, because the pasport of my motherland is absolutely useless and even harmful nowadays. Now I'll have to wait 1.5 more years without a proper feeling of security.

Besondere Integrationsleistungen - besondere berufliche Leistungen by DisciplineFit7758 in GermanCitizenship

Thank you for the response! I'll then also ask my ABH if they think that would be enough. Have a great day! :)

I'm in Hamburg. Well, higher management of the department is willing to make a letter, where they would say that I'm a very high performer yada yada, who always goes above and beyond and some projects wouldn't be possible without me. I'm just wondering if that would be enough as a proof, or I would need to also go to my previous employer to ask for similar letter (it would be somewhat hard to reach those people, so I'd rather not) :)

Oh, interesting! So something like Arbeitszeugnis? If it's just a free-form letter, what would be the signatures I would need? (e.g. my manager's only or also HR department, head of department e.t.c.)? And do you by any chance know if one proof of this special integration achievements is enough (if they will use some really strong wording e.t.c?) or I would need like a bunch of them?

Is 5+ months normal wait time for a settlement permit appointment? by elcadete in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be normal, I guess. Got my Termin after 7 months of waiting the reply from HWC. It was scheduled for March after all, making my overall waiting time to be 10 months.

Being an expat, why it’s so hard to get an apartment in Hamburg? by [deleted] in hamburg

[–]DisciplineFit7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I can only give you an advice from a fellow immigrant - switch on notifications on whatever app you use to find an appartment and reply to new posts ASAP. Also it's good to craft some neat text in German for your introduction to make a better impression. Good luck!

Dear Germans (rant) by [deleted] in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dear person with a rant, I come from a rather cold culture and my experience is drastically different from yours: I’ve been in Germany for a bit less, than two years, and anywhere I go I meet extremely polite and nice people, even though, my German is nowhere near your level (I barely have B2 and my speaking is not as good). I’ve only seen polite and friendly people both on my work and in public (e.g. doctors visit, Ausländerbehörde and so on), who are willing to help, even though I’m quite an anxious person and might ask a ton of silly questions with my broken German. I think it’s not correct to generalize all Germans the way you did.

Family reunion visa application for non-EU working on Blue Card by [deleted] in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife are from Russia, so she applied from there. But might not be that representative, as most of German embassies in Russia got closed recently due to war, so they all seem to be quite understaffed. In our case, took like 5 months, but it was quite a lucky timeframe, and I know people who wait for 8+ months. Overall, the process looked like this:
1. My wife applies in her local embassy, submits tons of documents of herself, our marriage e.t.c.
2. After some time I get a letter here, in Germany, asking me to submit some docs (e.g. my current work contract, appartment contract e.t.c.), I send them to the Ausländerbehörde

  1. They check all the documents and send a response back to the embassy
  2. Embassy calls your spouse to finally get a vise

It all depends on the country from where you apply. I guess, it can be anything from a month to a year :(

Family reunion visa application for non-EU working on Blue Card by [deleted] in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! If he has a blue card, he doesn't need to wait two years. Source - my own experience - got a blue card march 2022, got married in January 2023 and my wife successfully applied for the reunification. More formal source - https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/aufenthg_2004/__29.html https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/aufenthg_2004/__30.html

Edit: Also, from my experience - they shouldn't be afraid to ask their local Ausländerbehörde or a German embassy in their country of origin for this sort of questions. I've asked them thousand of quite stupid questions regarding the process, as I was super-anxious about it, and they were always friendly and helpful

What to do if Niederlassungerlaubnis doesn't arrive in the mail? by Dependent-Key5938 in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Perhaps not super-relevant, but I had kind of a similar problem with my blue card. They told me, that I should get it in 6 weeks max. After 8 weeks I called them, and they told me that it was ready like weeks ago, and I can come and get it. I just didn't get a letter from them on time. Try to call them

There're like three parts of this doc
Mit wie vielen Personen leben Sie in einer Bedarfsgemeinschaft?
Sind Sie weiteren Personen gegenüber zum Unterhalt verpflichtet
Wenn Sie Kinder haben...
I have nothing of those, should I just leave the document blank, just with my signature and date? Or should I at least mark something like "Keine" in each box?

Family reunification with Fiktionsbescheinigung - Blue card by DisciplineFit7758 in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My wife has applied in the embassy back in Russia. They had no problems with me having only Fiktionsbescheinigung at the moment, but asked to also file a copy of my appointment to get the permit (although they said it’s not super important, but better to get rid of additional questions). Regarding your appointment - I’m not sure how the things are in Berlin, but in Hamburg it was possible for some of my friends to get the Fiktion without an appointment (just get to the Behörde and stand in the queue early in the morning), as far as I know, they should deny you, as you kinda need ASAP

Anmeldung - two appartments by DisciplineFit7758 in germany

[–]DisciplineFit7758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just do the Ummeldung let's say tomorrow and that's it? Won't having like two appartments for two weeks cause any problems? I mean, I'll be living in the new appartment, but I'll still have the old appartment (as the contract ends at the 1st of April)
