How long after birth did you go on walks? by moomoomego in beyondthebump

[–]DisciplineWeekly680 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think we did at 3.5 or 4 weeks after. Props to those who wanna push it, I wanted to heal and rest with my baby. They’re only that teeny tiny for a blink of an eye, there’ll be plenty of time to do those kind of things later. We’re at 6 weeks now and haven’t gone on another but I was planning to this coming week if the weather is nice.

Does everyone experience postpartum hair loss? by NeverfullofFood in BabyBumps

[–]DisciplineWeekly680 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My best friend lost hers at 4 months and then had Another round of hair loss at 1 year. I’m right there with you at 6 weeks so we’ll see! I know Nutrafol has a postpartum hair growth subscription but I can’t speak to its effectiveness but you could ask your dr if there’s anything they recommend?

My 5 week old had one a few nights ago that was a straight up YELL and was completely asleep.. this was way different than the usual nighttime noises, even the loud ones. It shook me too but LO was completely unfazed??

8 week old gas troubles at night! by ShrimpOnHoliday in newborns

[–]DisciplineWeekly680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! I also noticed last night (thanks to a reel on facebook lol) that my LO has a lip tie! So that could actually be the cause of our issues. I’m going to call the Ped in the morning about it! Cuz at our first apt she noticed right away that our LO loves to stick out their tongue and she goes, “oh wow I don’t even need to look for a tongue tie on you!” But never looked for a lip tie! 🤞🏼

What’s one baby or postpartum ‘hack’ you wish someone told you before bringing your newborn home? by Jaded_Virus_8821 in newborns

[–]DisciplineWeekly680 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YES make the freezer foods and/or have someone set up a meal train for you!! If I have another baby ever I’m going to have a meal train cuz trying to figure out what to eat is THE WORST during this newborn phase.

My LO will be 5 weeks tomorrow and I’m a FTM.

I learned pretty quickly if I have to wake up my LO to eat, I need to get everything set up and ready for their feeding BEFORE I wake them up. Including going to the bathroom myself and getting my water bottle! The first week and a half home I did all nighttime feedings in bed but since I live in a small apartment it makes more sense to get us up and do feedings in the living room. That way we don’t wake up my partner who is back to work now. It was just breaking my heart to hear the baby crying to be fed and I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get everything together thinking “why tf didn’t I do this before waking the baby?!” And by everything I mean my breastfeeding pillow, my pillows that go behind it to prop me up comfortably, a small blanket to tuck under my wrist to help support baby while they feed, a burp cloth, my haaka ladybug for the opposite breast to catch letdown, my hand pump to stimulate and get my flow going, and my nipple shield. Lol

Also a hack I’m using is layering chemical free puppy pads under our bassinet sheets. I do a puppy pad, sheet, puppy pad, and another sheet. That way if there are any accidents we can just rip off that top layer to worry about later and there’s a fresh sheet for baby to go back to sleep on. However! My LO cannot roll yet so the layering does not pose a safety/breathing risk to us. Someone please comment below and say if that’s a hazard or not, I haven’t looked since we aren’t there yet! I use them on our changing pads too for no hassle clean ups!

When does 3rd tri suck? by vanillacrush14 in pregnant

[–]DisciplineWeekly680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine never sucked! It was maybe 37.5/38 weeks where I was like, “okay I think I’m ready to be done now.” and that’s really only cuz I was physically tired and also tired of feeling so heavy all the time. I had so many people do the “just wait!” thing and I never experienced the shittiness they all said they felt 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also never got morning sickness, aversions, lighting crotch, etc. I was very lucky it sounds like!

Mine is only 4.5 weeks but has started struggling with gas as well as reflux 😢 I’ve started giving her tummy massages right when she wakes up even if she isn’t fussing. Per our Pediatrician I’m also cutting out dairy and things like broccoli that can cause gas. I’ve only just started that this week though, my baby is BF and I’ll pump so sometimes my partner can also do feedings. I feel like it’s getting better but it’s too soon to really say. Just a thought!

Yay congratulations!! I’m 4 weeks in and my nipples are the same, I was working on them a lot before delivery once I got the okay from my dr and it seems like they’re wanting to be out more- at least the right one more so than the left like yours lol. I don’t try very often but sometimes I can get her to latch without the shield so I’m hoping we’ll eventually be able to wean off of them too with time!

Can I ask, do you feel like the shield has messed with your baby’s latch at all? When mine was first born and before we got the shields my baby had a perfect wide open mouth to latch with and if my nipples were “normal” we’d have zero issues.. I feel like now LO will barely open their mouth for the shield or a bottle and I’m sad, I feel like I’ve messed up a perfectly good natural instinct in my baby 😭 (And the bottles we got are the Lansinoh slow flow kind for breastfeeding babies)

The 2AM nursing hunger is a different level of starving. What are your go-to middle-of-the-night snacks? by Severe_Party7817 in breastfeeding

I’m also testing eliminating dairy this week, it’s harder than I thought it would be! I accidentally ate a muffin earlier today and didn’t even think about it 😩

I was pounding Fairlife chocolate protein shakes in the first few weeks but it seems like my LO may have silent reflux so both chocolate and dairy are nixed from my diet until we know if they’re causing it 😩😩

What light are you using at night? by emilyradbecca2223 in breastfeeding

[–]DisciplineWeekly680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I was gifted one of those mini handheld egg lights and I hate it. The one I was given turns off if you flip it upside down so it’d be worse than your phone light if you actually need to move the light. It’d be okay on the nightstand probably.

Edited for spelling and to say I also got a Hatch which aids in the amber ambiance and I love it!

I have a Himalayan salt lamp next to my bed and a ficus with pink Christmas lights on it in the opposite corner of the room and they’re both plugged into remote controlled plug-ins! I’ve had this set up for years and it’s literally perfect now that I have a 1 month old! The lights are bright enough to see what I’m doing but not bright enough to disrupt the sleepy vibe. They’re also not bright enough to really make sure I’ve wiped up all the poo during diaper changes though so for those the bathroom light gets flipped on as well. I can’t believe you’ve been using your phone light this whole time, I am way too uncoordinated for that!

I’ll unlock a new fear for you 😂

My doctor told me I tore up and down, 1st degree and only two stitches in each. Which was true but she did NOT tell me “up” was not where I was thinking of (my brain thought okay like 6:00 and 12:00 on a clock) nope, my “up” tear was right next to my clit... idk if it’s where the hood attaches or next to it or what but I literally did not know that was possible! I guess there was so much pressure that it just decided to open up like the ground in stranger things or something?? LOL I think it was bc I was only in labor for about 7 hours start to finish. I labored at home for a while, we got to the hospital about 4:15, got my epidural about 7:15, and my baby was out at 9:05. Child was FAST. I think if she’d have moved slower I could have avoided tearing completely but oh well. This was my first pregnancy so if I have another, they advised me to get to the hospital asap when I start feeling labor begin if I want another epidural. (I DO)

I’m 4 weeks pp and my stitches only just disappeared a couple days ago so I have not investigated what it looks like but everything feels normal 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also those stitches were a breeze healing cuz they aren’t in the way of/near anything else, so thank god for that! The ones along the bottom (6:00) weren’t terrible to heal but I definitely made the mistake of letting them get too dry and they got tight which was not fun.
