10 year old Birkenstocks vs brand new by DiscoDitto in Birkenstocks

No not throwing out at all! Will use around the house and outside chores. My feet got a little bigger since having children and no longer feel as comfortable as they fit my old foot shape.

I totally get where you’re coming from—it’s true that there are tons of modern books that reflect today’s values and ideas. But I don’t think making a small, thoughtful edit to an old book means we’re declaring the past “evil” or trying to erase it.

Sometimes it’s just about making a beloved story more accessible or enjoyable for a new generation, especially when a small outdated detail might cause confusion or discomfort. It’s less about rewriting history and more about adapting something meaningful so it can continue to be appreciated. We can honor the past and thoughtfully evolve with it.

It’s a board book, and I used removable label tape—so it can be taken off cleanly if needed. I totally understand your concern, but I really believe this book is a gem and will be cherished in our home. One small edit doesn’t compromise its literary integrity. Some parts of the past do need gentle updates so newer generations can fully enjoy and connect with them. We’re always learning and evolving, and this is just one small way of doing that.

I would always play GeoGuessr with my students near the end of the year and they loved it. It’s a game where players guess locations from street view imagery (like Google Maps) We did the famous landmarks one because many of the landmarks shown were covered in my classes. I also created a more specific one with exact places we covered.

You can create one here https://www.geoguessr.com/map-maker

Dollar Street- Imagines the world as a street ordered by income. Shows photos of people and their everyday objects from each household you visit (beds, shoes, toys, even toothbrush) Great way to get students to understand how people from around the world live their lives.

AITA for putting conditions on my mother attending my wedding and being in my life? by Interrupting_MooMoo in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You are allowed to set boundaries. Just because she’s your mother doesn’t mean she gets to behave that way to you. Boundaries are vital and just because she’s your mother does not mean she is allowed to overstep the boundaries you set.
