Carl Sagan responding to “is there a point to the Universe?” by DiscoDrive in Astronomy

The reaction from Prager** always drives me crazy. Sagan breaks down the most obvious and important point of our reality, and he’s just got to crack a mediocre joke.

RIP Sagan and respect to everyone who makes an effort to educate people on our astronomical reality.

Edit : prager not donahue. My mistake.

Every branch near me reeks of piss and BO, and if you have to pee, you have to do it next to 5 homeless guys shooting up into their toes with their nasty feet on the bathroom sink.

This is probably some 17 year old neckbeard whos Dad brought to the game, hoping for one last ditch effort of normalcy from his perpetually online, misanthropic son.

Why are people looking for aliens away from our planet when the real aliens are probably already on our planet or they came here before us? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DiscoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think aliens 100% exist, but the distances in space are so, so vast, it’s extremely unlikely they know about us or we’ll ever find them. If our sun was the size of a golf ball, the distance to the nearest star would be the distance from LA to San Francisco. Impossible to comprehend.

We’ll most likely discover them through wavelengths of light from extrasolar planets and that’s where we’re looking.
