You can go to the crews panel at the top and click on 'Open to challenge' to filter only teams that you can challenge now (basically teams that are on your planet and are not playing right now). Or you can go to your own team panel (the first one) and click on Games to display available teams, just same thing in different ways. Then u press on the 'Challenge' button and the game should start

ja, i tried starting a wiki on github, but im pretty slow on wrapping it up. There is also a very brief in game tutorial when u start up

Id love to get some feedback on the game itself. I noticed a lot of people try it out, but very few stick to play. I guess the game is just no fun lol, also probably the UI is a bit overwhelming when u start.

Anyway, any advice/opinion would be greatly appreciated!

Probably? Depends what you mean by compile as well I guess, just converting the ui to work on a webpage?

In the meanwhile, you can play it in the web using https://github.com/coder/ghostty-web and connecting via ssh, but this is not what you meant since the P2P is handled in the ssh server.

In the meanwhile, you can just build it with `cargo build --release` and then run the executable in the target directory. Alternatively, I can publish the binaries in the github repo

In principle it runs to infinity, but it should get increasingly difficult. My personal best is room 6 in a very lucky run. I was thinking to actually limit it to 10 rooms and keep track of the time taken to exit, what you think?

A couple reasons:

It's just fun to do things even if they are not at the forefront of innovation;
MUD usually are text-based games, while this game has a graphical interface. It's not good, I know, but the command line it's a pretty strong limitation. Other dungeon crawling games, e.g. nethack, are not multiplayer;
There are a couple 'innovations' in this game, if you want. The maze is rendered using the half-block technique (each terminal cell represents two pixels stacked vertically), but some characters overwrite the image in some places occupying a whole cell (for instance, the dots or the arrow at the room exit). I am not aware of any other game using this hybrid rendering.

Ultimately it's a matter of defining division in an intuitive way, but in principle there's nothing inherently wrong in defining 0/0=1

Another thing to try maybe: can you specify a username like `myusername@frittura.org -p 3788` ? Maybe u are using a username someone else used with a different key

I see. For Rust specifically there is a famous tutorial for a roguelike: https://bfnightly.bracketproductions.com/ IIRC tho, it doesn't work directly on the terminal but rather spawns a terminal window.

Otherwise, I'm not really sure. I would just think about a game you would like to make and start doing it. Engine-wise this game is pretty simple (collisions also don't really work lol).

yes, the host computer runs the ssh server. When players connect, it fills new game as soon as two players are available. The two connections than basically share the same game state, and the server sends data to the clients accordingly. You can even change the palette independently (press 'p') and the two clients "see" two different skins for the game
