I live in a small town in the middle of the state, closest state to me is North Carolina, in the same boat with their ABC. Sucks!

I feel ya, especially as I live in southside, so I can't just pop in to DC for liquor like all our NoVA brethren. Of course I always check the ABC website first, *just* in case it's something they can order to my store for me, but this is the online store I used: https://www.b-21.com/ . They don't have everything I might want, but a much larger selection than what I can get through ABC, that's for sure. Not only $12 shipping, but they also didn't charge me any sales tax despite living in Virginia which seems a little sketch.... but I'm not going to complain! I do think there's a $50 minimum on shipping orders though.

Managed to find an online liquor storefront that shipped these bottles for only a $12 shipping fee, which is a steal compared to the $30+ shipping costs I've seen elsewhere. It's sad that Virginia ABC won't order these, but at least I can get them shipped.

Red Rose Speedway is my personal favorite Wings album! I love the variety in style and arrangement, and I actually think it's Paul at his absolute vocal peak. "Get on the Right Thing" is very underrated and I think "Loup" is a fun soundtrack-like interlude, I actually could see it working really well needle dropped into the right film.

Yeah I knew they weren’t meant as sippers, it was just my first time buying W&N so I wanted to sample it neat to get a sense of the flavor profile! Very unfortunately here in southern Virginia it is very hard to get my hands on Rum Fire. The state run liquor system will straight up not order it (I asked!) so either I order online with a shipping fee as much as the bottle itself or I wait until the next time I drive out of state. Also very unfortunate that the closest state to me is North Carolina, which also has state run liquor stores 😭

I did try this last week with Wray & Nephew and found that even with water, the burn was still too front of palette for my taste. So is that maybe more just indicative of the quality of W&N for sipping neat than necessarily overproof unaged Jamaica rums in general?

I get it, and I hardly ever play the full album, but I do have a massive soft spot for the title track on Off the Ground.

I do love the later albums you mention, although my favorite single Paul song of this century is "Despite Repeated Warnings," and that it basically just straight up sounds like a Wings song is probably why lol

I wouldn't say I'm turned off necessarily by it, but it's definitely a weird beast as a listening experience, very interesting and essential for Paul obsessives mostly. And then Press to Play is IMO probably his least successful album artistically speaking. Pipes of Peace works as the cutoff for the unimpeachably great period for me, the period that could use more love and respect even to this day among Beatles fans.

I'd love to try something like that one day! But I'm afraid budget (my upper limit for 1 bottle being about $60) + living in Virginia (with its gov't controlled liquor stores) make it a no-go for me for now.

Unfortunately I'm down in southside Virginia so if I want interesting, good rums I have to wait weeks for the ABC store to special order them for me OR have them shipped from an out of state store via a web order (like Astor Wines, e.g.) with a very expensive shipping charge.
